  1. Hi, I'm surprised too. You are lucky though, mine is 22 consecutive months fulltime in connecticut.I have 3, 5hour nights..plus online classes & it's considered fulltime too..if not i wouldn't qualify for the full student loan amounts..good luck
  2. thanks for taking the time to notify all of us...i bet you helped many out...reguarding my state (ct) now i know to verify everything first.thanks
  3. Thanks for all the info...Where is MMH hospital(is it Middlesex or Manchester??)?Thanks again
  4. Hi pokey,Thanks for the info.I'm actually starting their night program it begins Sept.& runs 22-23 months...MWT 5PM to 10PM & 3hr online class per week...it's concidered full-time but somehow they shorten it a bit. I do know it's very condensed & "HARD".But, since it's a new program for the school they erally didn't have more info. for us yet...hopefully because it's 7 months longer than the day it possibly will be a little easier???? What do you start doing that soon in clinicals?? Also, do you have any salary info. It's hard to get the same answer from people..either they don't know or it's a very large payscale($10) difference for some. thanks
  5. to the both of you w/ all ths b.s. going on...i just can't believe that there are so many &^(%^#$^$$ people in this world. but, believe me that if this is all true & both of you were just acting out of "innocense",no "out-of-scope-of-practice for a student...then shame on them & this happened to you for good reason...your day to shine will come & god will someday let them realize what they did was "aweful"...keep fighting for youself & the more of a "scene" & "stink" you make than, the more quickly you shall win. most universities & c.c. don't like "poor" publicity, especially this time of year when they are recruiting....if i was in your situation..i would write a very "nice" letter to the dean or instructor in charge..letting them know you mean business & that you were wrongfully dismissed from the program & that you don't intend to back down. straight out tell them you are offering one more chance for reconcideration and to resume your past position ...if they choose to be "unfair" than you will have to address to the public you feelings on the school & that they obviously have a very poorly run nursing program. call your local news paper & your tv news chanel....they just might change their minds. just curious, are they trying to get rid of you so they can "cover-up"something? if thats the case & you know what it is than you might want to suggest to them that you possibly aren't the only one that viewed this....if thats the case...i hate to use the words threaten ,bribe ,blackmale..etc. but this is your life and future on the line & letting them know you will not be played with is a very brave start. good luck p.s. i really done have a "natural' evil streak...but i do believe that you don't lie, cheat or steal ...if you do the law punishes you so they are no different!!!! hotcoffee1 let me know how you do on monday(pm me if you like). i will be praying for both of you though!!!!
  6. :biggringi i just can't say how happy i am for all of you, hopefully your good luck will rub-off one me too!!!!:balloons:
  7. I feel the same & had the same competition for entrance..my ??? how old is "old"...I totally relate to you & I'm 34yrs.///I'm very proud of myknowledge @ my AGE...but your post made me really realize it... I was sooooo nervous thinking that I was out of school 'forever" & these young ones will know all the "stuff" Well I showed them......THANKS
  8. QUOTE"Reading this makes me so glad I have the family I do. When I need to study they vanish and return when I give them the ok My hubby picks up the slack when I have a test etc. GOOD LUCK :)" I'm not sure who wrote this but, I want to know your secret...I have 3 children...a boy 10 yrs ...girl...7 years..and a great hubby ..I'm 34 strarting LPN school..told that it'sREALLY hard..doing a night program & some classes online (9) ...can anyone tell me how on-line classes are...I'm a little w/ the times & manage to surf the inter. & e-mail, download & attach...you know the basics...how will I do w/ on-line classes?????? I can't imagine having to be a computer genius & a nursing student....please let me know what I'm in for!!!! thanks
  9. What about connecticut..anone know about that state?? Thanks
  10. LOL I think that not just in nursing but any avenue of work that calls for dedication & "your all'...you have to be mentally..remember mentally organized...not just paper because it's just not always handy...just like an arithmatic problem...some can & most can't mentally see the "imaginary" problem... if you can "lay-it-out" in your mind as you would on paper than that will really help you..it's really hard to explaine but organization is thwe key to most any occupation. Hope this helps.LOL
  11. i'm not sure about Ex. but my friend & I wer e recently speaking about RN's in Ct having to be accepted into nursing program to get clinicals done (and it's really hard to get into ...many applicants)and she told me that going the LPN route is best because almost all you clinicals are complteted w/ the lpn school....I'm not totally sure if thats true but...here in CT we have LPN to RN bridge programs that are "legal"..and & think EX. is a popular one also. Wish you well.
  12. too old?? listen to this...i was 18 ..graduating highschool in 1988...had partial scholarship to lpn school...had to opt out because my mother thought that (through a relative) a free phlebotomy training school was the way to go...mind you if i did the lpn route i would have needed transportation etc.( did i mention how poor we were?).well i was a phleb for 10 years(time flies)...now nursing school would be a huge hassle..husband..kids..husband w/ great $$ job..who needed it...well here i am 16 years later & still thats what i want & the time couldn't be better.i was accepted into nursing school & the kids are both full-time in school(i don't work)so this is probably the best time to really focus & be a nursing student.my point ??? everything must really happen for a good reason because 16 years ago i thought nursing was a good $$$$ job & a breeze to learn..in reality i really wanted to be a nurse but i probably would not have excelled as i would now..now i really want it bad!! so your never too old...just wiser..i'm only 34 but i know i sound like an old fart...but this is reallly true....i'm so excited to go to school, i'm going to be the oldest in the class prob.too....who cares!!!! i wish you the best!![color=#f4a460]love heidi
  13. ______________________________________________ i keep my fingers & toes crossed for all of you...& this is in caps,,because i'm yelling...do well i'm praying
  14. Maybe I missed something...but why did you get booted? Did you make an error? If so than isn't that why you are a student...I just don't understand..I do understand quite well that there are many angry people out there taht would just do unkind acts & not think of the damage they do to one's lives...getting dismissed from nursing school is a BIG blow to any student that REALLY wanted to be a nurse...not to be "out-of-line" (because I'm a OLD one too)...but at your age I'm betting that you took this seriously..not that young ones don't...hate to ramble but I find in this day & age you really have to bac-up anything you say because there are those that take great offence to anything & i'm sure the age commecnt I make here will rattle a nerve or two on some...but what the heck happened that you would be "kicked-out"...I need to know for my own personal reasons being in school & did you find out if it really was justifyable? Nursing is a tough field to be accepted into. in CT..assuming that it also is all over the USA,& to get dismissed is really awefull...unless you did something totally out of line & out of your scope...like amputate a limp etc.:uhoh21: but, otherwise if it's clinically based ...where was your instructor...maybe it's not you & it's him or her...let me know...I'm very sorry about this whole thing...keep trying...LOL Love Heidi
