Good luck on the pre-NLN. I took it in January and I really had to review my algebra (I had lots of ratios/proportions to work out) before the test.

I'm waiting, too, and should hear within three weeks!

I had nowhere close to a 4.0 gpa and I aced the math test and math is not my best area, so I feel sure that you will ace the test. Good luck.

ou guys are all so awesome!! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I need to practice some relaxation techniques because I tend to stress out in test situation. Judith- Thanks for letting me know it is alot of proportions and algebra...those are actually easier for me than story problems involving percents...and I am not good at all in geometry. Is there alot of geometry on it? I have never taken Physics or Chemistry but have done Biology,Nutrition and A&P so those will help with the science part. I am going to go buy "Physics for Dummies" and "Chemistry for Dummies" I hear those books really break things down to the basics..........I will keep you guys posted!! :)

"Is there a lot of geometry on it?"

Hi, Salgal!

My pre-NLN had very little geometry, maybe 4-5 questions dealing with the very basic concepts and formulae--stuff like how to find the area of a parellogram, the circumfrence of a circle, and how many degrees were in the remaining angle of a triangle. There were a few word problems involving basic arithmetic, some converting of percents to decimals, and the bulk of the exam was basic algebra (solving for "x"). Make certain you recall facts like a negative times a negative is a positive. My biggest complaint was the lack of a calculator. Many of the calculations were lengthy once you sorted out the problem, so there's a lot of room to multiply or divide incorrectly . . . stuff like 0.008 x 134.895 / 0.789 . . . I had such a headache at the end! But it is manageable.

In the science, the only questions that knocked me for a loop were the ones on electricity (maybe 4-5 of them). I had memorized some basic stuff about circuits, power, and wattage, but these questions involved resistance over a series of circuits. Electricity just isn't my thing . . . so I ended up eliminating the really bogus responses, then guessing among the remaining replies. When I came home and described the electricity stuff to the DH (Mr Electricity), he told me all my answers were wrong! --yet my score came out just fine! Missing a few questions isn't the end of the world! Most of my science questions were bio and physics, a little chem and a little earth science.

One of the schools I've applied to had recommended using the GED (high school equivalency diploma) prep books for science and math, and I did find they were very helpful for review. I also used the pre-NLN workbook. The "Dummies" books are great, but actually might get into more detail than you need.

Good Luck anyway...although it seems like you won't need it.....with a 4.0 GPA!!! I have to go take the NET for the nusing program at my school on May 1st. I've been studying too...I hope I get accepted....AGAIN...lol. I was accepted for the Fall 2002 class but I was experiencing complications with my pregnancy....so hopefully I'll get in again....I won't know until 6/15/03
