I totally relate. I went my entire way through a BSN program wondering if I was making the right decision. My sister had graduated several years before and was working at a nuclear power plant and begging me to come out and work with her. making far more money than I could ever dream about in nursing. Yet, I made it through the program hoping when I graduated to get a job in L&D. I made it through with a 3.95 average, and still I wasn't sure if it was my passion. I ended up taking the first offer I got on a med-surg unit, night shift. It was love at first sight. It was never what I thought I wanted to do but I look forward to going to work, I enjoy it, and its a perfect fit.

So, I'm finishing my second semester of lpn program. While my grades have bee really good, there has always been that lingering question if I made the right decision by changing careers (38 yr old second career).
Today during clinicals, we had a code. I participated by doing compressions, and bagging. After quite some time, we got the patient back. Needless to say, this was my first time at this, and what a rush! Driving home, it hit me that I was now doing something that I absolutely love!!!! Talk about the light coming on!
