I think you'll be fine! I took General Chemistry without taking Intro to Chem or Chem in highschool.. I regretted at first, but studying paid off!
Just make sure you know your polyatomic ions, metric units and periodic table like the back of your hand! I made flashcards and was studying those constantly - I believe they are the foundation to excelling in Chemistry!
Good luck! There's a bunch of good information posted on this website - you'll find studyguide and such :)

Hey Kamdyn,
Here's my story. I too was frightened to death of chem.....and avoided it like the plague. When I could no longer put it off, I registered for it, and darn if I didn't get an A! Interestingly, I kept taking more and more, and I ended up teaching high school chem.
One thing - find someone to tutor you now - before you need it. It will be worth the money to spend an hour or so a week with a tutor. Look on the bulletin boards in your chem building. Really - don't wait.
Good luck to you. Your tummy will be better soon.

Since I'm a not a "math-person" I dounbt I will ever end up teaching it, but if I can pass with a good grade I will be ECSTATIC!!!!!

Hi! :nuke:
I know just how you feel believe me! I was feeling the same way this past spring quarter in Chem. 101 and I managed to make an A- much to my suprise.
I had never taken a Chem. class before in my life and I was so scared, just like you. Thanks to the wonderful help of my tutors at my school's tutoring center and the kind people here on Allnurses in the Spring 08 Chem. thread I was able to make it! You can too!
Just take it one day at a time, study every day, get a tutor whenever you need to (don't hesitate - they make all the difference) and spend time on this quarter's Chem. thread here on Allnurses (check out past threads for awesome links). If you have ANY questions please don't hesitate to ask. You can PM me or just post. I was saved many a time by helpful people here on Allnurses and I'd love to do the same for someone else.
Here is one of my favorite Chem. site links:

It has worksheets and explanations - you'll really find it helpful.
You can do it! :heartbeat

Kamdyn,
Good luck to your tomorrow with your Chemistry class!!! I'm sure you'll do great! I had General Chemistry spring semester and actually loved the class. Took it along with General Biology. I was really nervous taking 2 science classes with fulltime (more than full time actually..lol) job.
There is a book that you can purchase on Amazon or any Barnes and Noble. It's called the "Cliff Study Solver - Chemistry." It was the best $14.00 I spent! LOL.
While taking Chemistry it's really best if you do the questions at the end of the chapter, then work on the problems in the cliff study solver.
Good luck to you!!!

I dreaded chemisty as well. I would have to say it was one of the harder prereq classes, but I managed to get an A. My advice is that keep up on the homework and reading. If your school has a tutoring center that may be of great help as well. When I took it I didn't know that they had a tutoring center( it wasn't until I was taking O-chem that I discovered it), but I did all the practice problems assigned, and occasionally did more. I wish you the best of luck.
Regards,
Jean
Well day 1 is over!!! YEY! Only 22 days left!!! LOL
I have mixed feeling about this class thus far. The teacher is Russian and has a VERY thick accent! She seems like she knows her stuff but has a hard time getting her point across. At one point, the students had to explain something to a lost student because she could not understand what the teacher was trying to say. I've decided that I'm not going to make any quick conclusions but instead give her some time and hopefully the class will go smoothly.
Thank you all again for your support and suggestions. I don't know what I would do without all of you!!!! :loveya:
