Ok, details please.....how was the test in your opinion. My friend told me it was hard, he also went the minimum. The NCLEX-RN is a total different level compared to the PN test. What did you use to study? Very curious...and a job well done Lunah!

It wasn't easy, I can say that for sure! (And I couldn't really answer your question until I found out if I passed or not, know what I mean? LOL) But it was about what I expected. I did a lot of practice questions, and these felt similar. I did have some of the new alternate format questions, but nothing excessive. And ... despite my best efforts to SLOW DOWN and read each questions and answer at least twice ... I finished in under an hour. I know, I know!!! I could have seriously kicked myself when I saw the time when I exited. (I hate it that I can't wear my watch inside the testing center!!)

Funny -- the first thing I did when I got to the computer with my whiteboard and pen was to write down the normal electrolyte ranges and ABG values so I wouldn't space any numbers, and I ended up not needing a one!! LOL!!

As far as study materials, my hospital gave me a 3-week subscription to the NCSBN Learning Extension, and I used that, but mostly for the practice tests. I used Saunders Comprehensive Review (I had the 3rd. ed.) most heavily -- I went through the book and did every practice test after every chapter, and if I did poorly on any area, then I'd go back and review that. It worked well for me! I also used a 3500 question CD-ROM published by Lippincott Williams and Wilkins -- that was awesome.

I just wanted to say congratulations. I am using saunders for the excelsior classes. I have yet to get the nerve to actually test. I used Saunders for the PN and passed with flying colors. I know what you mean though about the wait. When I did the PN nclex it shut off early at 80 and I was certain I had failed.

That's great. After all the exams you've passed to get this far, you know it's going to be good news! Aren't you an EC grad too? I don't think I'll ever be as scared of any exam as I am the CPNE. :eek:

Yep, I'm an EC grad, as of August 2008. With "high honors," even. Hee! And yes, it was good news -- it took less than 48 hours to find out that I passed.

A shut down at 75 means you passed. The test software is presumptive: it figures if you pass the 1st 75, you'll continue passing all the rest, so it's academic to continue--congratulations RN!

Thanks! I actually posted that back at the beginning of August. You're right -- I passed!

But some people do fail at 75 ... I've seen their posts in the NCLEX forum on this site. Thankfully I wasn't one of them!

Yes, people can fail at 75 questions. Suzanne4 from the Nclex forum is great with things like this. But we know LunahRN would NOT fail at 75 questions!
