It wouldn't be the first day back from spring break....

without lice!!! Kid (repeat offender) comes down 1 hour and 15 minutes after the start of school and, sure enough, she has lice. I call mom who doesn't believe me. She takes her merry time coming in to get student. Once she arrives, I take my licemeister comb (fyi - to any passersby - this tool is as essential to school nursing as the thermometer) and pull 4 louse out of kid's hair. Two of them were mating at the time (I'm such a killjoy).

Mom is so disgusted she won't even touch her kid. She wraps the kid's head up in a shirt.

Dad called the Board of Health. He threatened to do this last time she had lice after he schooled the principal on how lice can live up to 3 weeks off a human head. Clearly she got 4 louse in her hair from the hour she spent in the classroom this morning. My non-nurse supervisor directed me to perform a full class lice check. Nada. Zilch. Negative on all other clients.

FWIW, I checked this student the day before spring break and called her mom to report nits.

Today is our first day back from break. I came in to find my phone cord and fan cord ripped up from the floor and thrown on my desk (I had them taped down so student wouldn't trip over them), my MAR and gloves thrown on top of the cabinet (had to get a chair to reach), my refrigerator turned around, and a little canvas painting from a kiddo missing. :(

Sigh...They waxed the floor, which is super clean and shiny, but C'mon now! I could've neatly put things aside if you would've told me.

I sent out a mass email about the painting, which I really liked, and the kiddo was super proud of it. Boo.

It rained quite a bit yesterday and is expected to today. I'm taking bets with myself to see how many muddy kids I get. ;)

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

That ripped out cord complete with dust bunnies lying across your desk must be a required janitor thing. Now, if they dusted before they waxed and plugged the cords back in, then they rate the custodian title.

Your new shiny floor will look lovely with all the little muddy footprints.

Welcome back :)
