Yikes!!!! I went to a home care private duty office and they gave me a list to complete. $16 for sheriff fingerprinting fees, $19.25 for FBI check and $16 for a FDLE background investigation. I have not had a "job interview" yet. I sure hope they plan on hiring me after I spent all this money doing their paperwork:confused:

Thanks all. I will let you know what happens when I finally turn in all of the required paperwork. When I did call them I asked if they had Friday night shift jobs available and they said "Yes". Of course, by the time I finally get all of the required paperwork done I wonder if they will still have night shift available. I guess I better hurry up and get all of the paperwork done ASAP. I am sorry to hear that if they don't have work available that I can't use this $59.25 background check for my next job.
Update-I am doing my CPR class tomorrow and my TB test next week and will have all the paperwork done for the $59.25 job requirement. I went to another agency today and they told me that it would cost me $53.75 to get the backround check done. I told them that I had recently done a background investigation and she told me she could find the results online without me having to do another background check. Thank God for that. At this new agency they said I would have to go and get a physical and TB test as physicals and TB tests must be done within 6 months before hire. On this new agency's paperwork it said that a background check is a work requirement and that it does not guarantee that one will be hired. Good luck job seekers.
We do not charge for TB or CPR at my agency. I just hired a HHA who went through all the hiring requirements (it actually only cost her 5.00 for her county background check) If they have lived in the same county for 3 yrs they don't have to be fingerprinted. We gave her the state HHA exam, competency checked her and registered her as a HHA with the State, gave her CPR training, did her TB test... she called off her first day and then was a No Call/No Show for the next 3 days and won't answer her phone. So the frustration is on both sides of the fence!

Sounds like someone hasn't figured out that they have to work for a living.

I can't imagine doing something like that to someone else.
we dont have to pay for TB or CPR. We didn't even have to pay for fingerprinting when it was required by the school systems for the nurses to go to school with the kids. We had a $15 background check that was taken out of our first paycheck, so you had to be hired to pay for it. I think its wrong of the agency to require you to pay before you are even hired.

Thanks all. I think this whole situation is just plain crazy.
I have now completed all of the paperwork for both of these nursing agencies. I will be calling both places today to find out exactly what is next now that I have finally completed all of their paperwork requirements. Thank God, I already have another job to help pay for all of these expenses. One place did call me saying they are getting ready to do my orientation. I will update again when I know more.

Very strange. I'd sure want some assurance that there was work available for the hours you are available. The problem with getting all the background checks and then getting copies of them if you move on is that every agency has a different policy about how old they can be. They have to be done 3 weeks from the hire date at my agency. So if someone brings them in from a few months back, I can't use them.
Good luck to you!
