Isn't the employer suppose to pay for your travel?

Hello :)

Apparently its not a highly valued position so I would think twice about spending the money? Do you really want to move to TX? It's hot and dry and they have droughts and fires down there lately.

If they won't spend the money for your travel expenses is it worth it? Usually for management positions you expect travel reimbursement!

She's in TX :)

It's a wonderful place :)

It's all a matter of supply and demand.

You want their job and so do (likely) dozens of others. If you want it enough, you'll get yourself to the interview.

If there are no other applicants (unlikely), and they really want you, they will pay.

Maybe you should read a little slower.

And Texas is a great place to be!

I was reimbursed mileage for my job interview at the regular IRS rate, paid a sign-on bonus, and had my entire move paid for when I relocated from Nevada to Washington, and I'm a staff nurse in the ICU.

Like someone already said it depends on how bad the employer needs and wants you. Usually, only senior management positions or those sought through a head hunter are paid for.....you can attempt to make it apart of the negotiation by saying "Are there reimbursed travel or relocation expenses paid for this position" If not you need to decide if it is a position you want AND travel and lodging are tax deductable for job searches.

Good Luck!

I think the answer to this is obvious, if they were really desperate and really needed people really badly then they'd pay to fly out out. However they don't seem to be that desperate.

Generally it's whoever "needs" the other party more that winds up paying for travel cost.

Yes, you are so right. I recently got this job in North Dakota. They wanted me to pay to get a ND license and pay thousands to relocate! They weren't willing to reimburse me. I told them no. I also reside in Texas. I guess I learned my lesson. I better stay in Texas.
