What is your current GPA? It's very competitive to even get into the program. You would also need to discuss with a financial aid person. If you complete a degree, there may not be any financial aid left for you and ABSN programs are very expensive.
Trust me. Im completely aware you guys arent advisors. Im simply asking for opinions on bsn vs. ABSN programs considerijg im 80 % done with my current degree that i wont really use.
Unfortunately, no one can predict what will be the absolute best route. What would work better for you, may not work so well for the next person.
My son was in a similar predicament. About 18 months from graduating with an education degree, he decided he would rather pursue med school. He could switch to general studies & graduate a year sooner while picking up some required science courses or continue with the ed degree & delay some classes before qualifying for MCAT. Quite frankly, I advised him to complete his ed degree so that no matter what happened in med school, he always had that in his back pocket, even if he never used it.
Well, he graduated a year ago. About 3 months ago, he decided not to pursue medicine & is currently working in an education related position, so I am soooo glad he did complete his degree.
Now, obviously your experience is your own. You have to look at how each scenario may play out. Is there any chance you may change your mind later? (Knowing my son, I knew it was quite possible.) Are you academically strong? Even good students sometimes find themselves struggling after starting nursing school.
I know this can't be much help. Continue looking at all your options & speaking with your advisor at school. Whatever you decide, run with it & don't second guess yourself.

hey everyone! i am currently changing my degree to nursing from education. After discussing everything with my advisor I am a little confused as to what to do. I am about 80% done with my education degree and would be graduating may of 2018. He gave me 2 options: continue with my degree and do an Accelerated BSN program when i finish and have 2 degrees or stop the education degree now but i won't be able to start my nursing program until 2018 since i have catch up to do (i would basically start may 2018 with no extra career vs. continue with education and finish with 2 degrees). WWYD?
