Is it true?

Is it true that not all nursing schools require RN Pre-Admission Test, only general admission requirements, such as minimum grade point average, high school or college biology, chemistry and math, reading and writing assessment tests and sometimes CPR or CNA certification?

The community college here in St. Louis doesn't require pre-testing nor do they have any kind of competitive process to get in. You complete your requirements (w/the minimum GPA), put your name on a list, and wait -- first come, first served.

I have mixed feelings on whether that is right or not....when you've worked hard to get good grades, it'd be nice to be rewarded for that. However, I know some people struggle more than others and perhaps that's not always a reflection on the quality of RN they will eventually become.

Good luck!

It is because of the cost. CCs are alot cheaper. That is why I choose the CC I am in.

If they have bad grades going in they might also not make it through the nursing program let alone pass the State Board exam....it's always better to have good grades in my opinion. So keep up the good grades as you have been doing :)

totally depends on the school... but yes, some don't require a pre-admission test. all of the adn programs in my area require net, but the 4-year colleges do not. their websites have all this information, so you can check around and see who requires it and who doesn't.

the way i see it, most of the programs are so dang competitive that you have to keep a nice high gpa just to be accepted. if you can do that, then the pre-admission testing isn't going to faze you at all. personally, i tried to avoid it only because the schools 'round here charge you money when you take it (about $30, usually) and i just didn't want to part with that money.
