I may have an opportunity to begin doing freelance work of basically writing care plans. I'm a NY based nurse and this facility is in CA. I'm wondering if legally I would be required to have CA state licensure. This is fully remote and I wouldn't be interacting with any patients, however, it would be using my nursing expertise and it would be indirectly being involved in patient care. If anyone has knowledge about this, I would I appreciate it as I don't want to be doing anything illegal! Thanks in advance!

Since you would be writing care plans for California patients, a California nursing license is required for any RN/LVN care being provided within that state -- taking about 3-4 months for license approval currently per AN members.
