Is Regular Biology a Pre-Req for A&P?

Published

I am working on my pre-reqs for my BSN in Houston. I have everything pretty much done except my A&Ps and Micro. I haven't taken a regular Biology class and it isn't required for the degree. I was just curious if I would be okay jumping into A&P or if I needed to take a regular Biology first? Any advice would be appreciated!

I took A&P without any other bio prereqs and got A's also. My school did not require anything but English Comp and Algebra as prereqs for A&P, but your school might require Intro to Bio.

Just as an aside though: microbiology (which I am taking now) does not have any other science prereqs either @ my school, but so far I see that my prior A&P and chemistry coursework is helping a lot so if anything I would recommend you take micro after A&P (and never at the same time as A&P, some of my classmates are doing that and are constantly nauseated :D)

if your school allows it you could take API without a Bio course. It is not necessary to do an into to bio course. I have taken gen bio and what I learned in the class was not anything related to AP...it was about plant parts, evolution, etc.

I say take AP without bio if your school allows it
