Yes. A couple of my classmates in CNM school were L&D nurses and ended up staying at their old jobs and not working as midwives. That said, they were already employed as L&D nurses even before CNM school.
Thank you for the feedback :-) This makes me feel better knowing that I have the possibility of staying on the floor.

I'm a lover of knowledge and am seriously considering going back to school for my CNM degree. However, I just want the opportunity to learn and expand my knowledge base in the area. Would it still be possible for me to work as an RN on the L&D unit while being registered as a nurse midwife, or would I be "over qualified" and thus overlooked?
