I need to take Micro this semester, as a pre-req for A&P1. Just wondering if it is possible to shoot for a Fall '10 program? If the application deadline is February, is there enough time? Will they mind that I'll probably still be in A&P1 at the time of applying?

in the nursing program that i will be applying to this coming fall, they do take in consideration if one of the classes that any student is currently taking is a pre-req for the program, and that is why the program waits till the grades are in to let students know if they're in the program or not. probably other programs will go ahead and take you, but they'll need some sort of verification that you did indeed pass the class at the end of the semester. have you called and ask them about that?
the problem is i haven't decided where i want to apply... so i'm just looking for a general idea if this is even possible to do. maybe if i took a&p1 over a winter 8 week session?

I think it just depends on the school. My school requires of us to have 12 credit hours of the pre-reqs complete. We get to pick which classes, science courses and our math elective is more heavily weighed, but the cut off is the 3rd Friday in January. So they do not take into account what classes we are taking in the spring. Good Luck!

I was given a conditional spot in my program. I was still enrolled in 5 courses between spring and summer semesters. Once I completed all of the classes, I was formally accepted into the program. So yes, my school does something like that
if you want to just get it over with, take during the winter session! if not, i'm sure there are school out there that will do as mine does. i know that others require for the students to have the pre reqs done before applying but like i said, there are those like mine that do not. i would just call all the ones you're thinking about and asking them straight out what's their policy, and that way, you'll know if you can relax and take it during the spring or if you need to buckle up and get it done during the winter session.

Oh my gosh don't worry! Everyone does it that way. I applied this past Feb while I was taking A&P 2, Dev. Psy and a Chem pre-req. Plus I had to take A&P 1 and micro over the summer! So I had what 3 pre-req's in process and 2 uncompleted at the time of applying. I personally don't know of anyone who wasn't taking a pre-req at the time of applications. Best of luck to you!
Oh, also none of our grades were in before the acceptance letters went out. They just said if by 8/17 if you haven't completed all pre-req's with a C or higher your spot will be given away to someone on the alternate list.

I talked to three school and two of them would conditionally accept you until you completed the pre-req class like one of the pp's said and one required you to have all pre-reqs done prior to applying for a seat. Def get on the phone and start e-mailing different nursing/transfer recruiters to find out how their school works. Knowing that info now might help you narrow down your school choices.
