Is a phone call a good sign?

Published

A month or so ago, I applied to two positions at a hospital. I interviewed for one, and received a rejection via e-mail for the other. Today, I missed a call from the recruiter at the hospital. He left a very nice voicemail asking me to call him back. I did, but it was 5:03 p.m. - I must have just missed him. Now the suspense is going to kill me. Would a hospital call to tell me I didn't get the job? If they did, wouldn't they just leave a voicemail? PLEASE tell me this might be the sun coming through the proverbial clouds of unemployment! I'm trying not to get my hopes up - but at the same time, I so want this job!

It is 10:38 a.m.! What could they possibly be doing that is keeping them from calling me?!? Running a hospital or something? The suspense is killing me.

Sorry, but why are you not calling them back today?

I did. No answer. His VM says he'll be in the office all day today, so I might try again this afternoon. At what point do I look like a stalker?

I'm afraid to be TOO persistent with it - the HR person at the hospital where we did clinicals told us that he kept an eye on his caller ID, and if someone called too many times, he wouldn't hire them because he thought that made them too annoying to work there. I'm not kidding, sadly.

lol, I know what you mean, as long as each time you don't leave a message, then I don't think it looks stalker-like. If he gets back and finds 5 VM messages, then he might snicker and laugh, but I cannot see it being too detrimental.

I see what you mean, I agree with you about calling him later int he afternoon. Perhaps try calling him about 30min - 1 hour before he goes home, that way it doesn't look bad on you.

I'm in shock - I don't think I'm going to believe it's for real until I'm in orientation. It's my dream job - NICU!
