Is there a nursing textbook or handbook for nursing test during an interview?

Published

Today wasn't really a good day for me. I been trying to get a job and its been so difficult, maybe cos am a new grad also. I had been going for interviews and was scheduled for one today. I walked in and felt welcomed, i chit chatted with some of the staffs who were very nice, and i was looking forward to getting accepted as a staff, maybe i hoped too much though. They had this computer test that i didn't know i was supposed to take today. When i started taking it, i discovered that the test questions were really challenging and difficult to answer, i mean i had taken tests before during interview, but this was way harder. By the time i was through, i prayed and hoped that i pass. But the lady walked up to me and told me that i failed by few points and that my application cannot be accepted, and if i was still interested in the position, i could try again in 6months time, i felt so very down. I asked to see the questions that i missed, but dat's not usually allowed. I was down and just wished i had tried to pass just one or more of the questions.

Please are there nursing kindda questions books for interview testing. I really don't wanna go through this again. If there are other books i could buy or study so if faced with another circumstance like this, i would excel, i would love to get the book. I still have some of my nursing books, but is there a book out there for tests like that?

There are all sorts of nursing-related test prep books out there, but you didn't specify what kind of test this was -- meds, med calculations, NCLEX-type questions, something else?

There were a mixture of all, but more of application type questions. Most of the questions related to the elderly. But i do need to know if there are books out there for just not the kind of questions i had, but a book that covers it all, cos i might have diff questions in another interview. Please do you know of any particular book? Thanks

You could probably get what you need with an NCLEX review book - particularly a q&a book. Have not seen one specifically for interviews, though i suppose if one were to write one it'd sell in this economy.....

hmmm..... if you need me i'll be over here writing a book!!

I can't think of any questions you might encounter in an interview that wouldn't be covered in one of these. Aside from, you know, the ones you have to be able to answer yourself (why should we hire you, etc.).
