for needs APART from their own?
I'm wracking my brain here. Yes, we need better pay. Yeah, we need other perks and incentives to attract and retain nurses to the field. Good reasons for any worker to strike.
But which professions besides NURSES have gone on strike to demand better conditions for their CLIENTS?
I can think of none. Can you?

Physicians have but I can't remember if it was for clients or themselves.

most nurses that strike are just as self serving as everyone else they just try to make it sound like they are striking soleley for the patient's interest

Well, my Dad was an ironworker and in a union . .. I guess striking for better and safer working conditions would be striking for something other than strictly themselves. It would also be for the building owner - who would want a safely built structure that wouldn't fall down and kill everyone in it.

I can see you don't get the connection between well-compensated and well-treated nurses and excellent patient care.Too bad for you.

And what happened to you when you crossed the picket line?
The topic was nurses who are striking not just for better pay for themselves, but for better patient ratios which studies have proven saves patient lives.
Crossing a picket line may be your choice but please don't add your agenda to this topic.
i already know what can happen. I also know I would NOT cross a picket line unless starving or about to lose my home.
And Angie, I apologize now for the hijack.
Aw, it's ok. I just saw a big ol' piece of bait hanging there....:chuckle
