this Fall 2010. Okay so here is the scenario:
I live in Charlotte, NC. Im due to have my 2nd baby 09/02/2010. My mother is retired and will be coming to be a "live in nanny", starting around the middle of August. (My little girl will be 2 by time new baby is here).
This is what I have planned for Fall semester:
I am enrolled in the following classes at a local community college. All classes are online and start 08/17/2010 and end of 12/11/2010:
General Psychology
Anthropology
Sociology
*I have already started contacting the professors for books, materials so I can start reading, etc*
I also plan on taking a CNA course. There are two this fall through The Nurse Aide Institute of Excellence:
First fall session is 09/13/2010-10/16/2010 and the other is 10/18/2010-11/20/2010.
I know for a fact that I will be on maternity leave until the end of October with no question. I am considering staying out an extra month(end of November) The CNA program is offered early morning, afternoon or evening.
Has anyone had to adjust to a schedule like this. Is it doable? Is this too much. Remember, I will be on maternity leave and my mother will be here on a full time basis. I am hopeful of it. The only thing that worries me is that I don't know if I will be able to start a CNA class 2-3 weeks after baby. And I don't even know when the baby is coming so I can't really bet on that, can I?

I'm taking general psychology, general sociology, and philosophy right now (all online) and it's been pretty easy & laid back. Classes are pretty organized and assignments & due dates are all clearly stated on the syllabus. As long as you don't fall behind too much on assigned readings & assignments, they should be pretty easy. If you haven't taken science prerequisites already, they should serve as a good "warmup". Good luck!

So you'll be leaving school all together after Oct or just your cna classes? I'm kind of confused on your schedule...

i took general psychology, microcomputer, intermediate algebra, and english this spring semester at my community college. it was an adjustment, but not unrealistic. given, my kids are older (14 & 12 y/o) i would spend approx. 2-3 hrs. a night (sun-thurs.) on homework and/or studying. many nights my poor family had sandwiches for dinner, but they survived! =)
it can be done, but you have to want it bad enough!
ps -- i have a 4.0 this semester!
@ "wanttobemidwife" no I won't be leaving school. the cna class starts then and basically I will be adding that to my schedule. Sorry if wasn't clear about that. I will remain in school the entire semester. There are just 2 cna classes that im looking at. one starts 9/13 and the other 10/18.
