I also just finished my last Kaplan Review Class and sit for Boards Feb 24th... We were also required to take 2 HESI exams (mid-semester and final semester). I believe as a Nursing graduate you HAVE the knowledge to be a RN, you have sat for endless exams, studied hours and hours and GRADUATED! I liked Kaplan review because it was focused on how to understand NCLEX NOT review material that we already know. Of course with that being said I review DAILY (obssesively.. actually) BUT I find that with proper review and Kaplans guidance I am feeling more prepared to take boards. Am I terrified and freaking out? OF COURSE! But, I KNOW I am giving 110% to prepare for my Feb 24th test date. Kaplan's test are not made to achieve 80s and 90s when testing, the low grades of 50 and 60s are actually where they want you at! This scares a lot of people away, i mean, when has it EVER been ok to get a 60? BUT with Kaplan the truly test you as if you were taking Nclex. If you are scoring 65% and better you have a 98-99% chance to pass Boards first time! and if you are Borderline with high 50s and low 60s you are still at a 90% chance to pass. I like thier level of difficulty, its not typical Saunders ?'s.. These really make you think outside of the box and I believe thats how boards will be.. Or so I hear.. I hope this helped but I HIGHLY recommend it!

P.S. I had class twice a week for 5 weeks (had 2 in class tests thru Kaplan) with ACTUAL Nursing Instructors. I also had the complete online program where they have a COMPLETE review via podcast with Nursing Instructors from basic Nursing up to GI, Cardaic, Ob you name it! They also gave us a book that I found to be helpful too.. Im hoping this will work for me, but as I said before I will let u know!

Good Luck !!!

I thought Kaplan was really good and I actually recommend it to anyone! The Qbank is awesome and the questions were very similar to the NCLEX, I passed in 75 questions! good luck...

hi, how long you did this review before you sit for an exam?

Kaplan course worked for me. I passed the first time around.

kewlnurse2b,

About a month prior to starting the actual classroom part of the course I read the book that comes with the actual course and watched all the review videos that are available online. This helped a lot for me. I also memorized all the lab values, which is all kaplan reccomends that you memorize. After the end of the review I chose the testing 3 weeks after the end of the class option. I went thru all the question trainers and qbanks as was outlined in the guide. All in all three weeks after the end of the class I answered 110 questions/day.

I took the exam this past feb 6th and passed at 79 questions. Good luck to you!!! Also, I believe the quesitons kaplan gave us were more challenging than the actual nclex-rn. I think others would agree with me too.

I would definately recommend Kaplan. It gives you the tools to figure out the questions about topics that you have no idea about. I completed all of the QTrainers and did part of the Qbank and I passed with 75. Of all of the practice q's I took, Kaplan's were the most similar to NCLEX.

Kaplan was a joke. The gave us an international teacher who passed her NCLEX not even 2 months prior. She was confusing, hard to understand and not able to take control of the class and answer clear questions. When speaking to the offices at Kaplan they just said "she is very knowldgeable and had very high nclex scores". I think that is great but not everyone is meant to be a teacher. Kaplan had no problem with taking $500 out of my account when I paid for the class almost immediatley, now it's been since December and no refund yet. The books and online information were never sent on time. We never got our books until we got home since we commuted. All in all I failed my NCLEX and Kaplan to this day still has not returned my call. We are disputing the charge for the money they took and would not refund. Don't do Kaplan!! WASTE OF MONEY!!

I don't see how you didn't get the online class in time. When I paid for my online access, I got it that second that my credit card went through. I think Kaplan has been great. I have completed the online content review videos and they have been so helpful in reinforcing content that I learned in school.

The Kaplan test bank was very helpful.. I bought the $35 purple Kaplan book from Barnes and Noble that gives you the strategies, which can be helpful, but not for every question.. My friend bought the test bank and shared the password with me. I only used it this weekend, just took NCLEX this morning in NYC and found that Kaplan questions were most similar to NCLEX. Also buy the learning extension from NCSBN website. http://www.learningext.com They write the NCLEX, so they are a great source. Hope this helps.

Save your money and take me to dinner when you pass!! You will do fine, just do questions religiously and review the rationales. Any areas that you are weak in I would spend more time on.. The thing with NCLEX there is so much they can ask you and there is no way you will remember everything.

Good Luck!!

they never sent me the email information. The issue with the book and online was that payment was received the week before christmas. they blamed UPS for us not getting our books in time. We communted from Orlando, FL to Daytona Beach which is atleast 1hr/day. We stayed in Daytona to avoid the commute and never got our books until we went back. They sent an email with the class schedule but no instruction on the Q bank. I never (and neither did the 4 girls with me) knew nothing about the Q bank and online portion until going to the first class!

helloooo

I have the kaplan strategies book...but still I have some trouble to apply ....

could anybody help me :rotfl:

thankyou.............
