California Corrections RN Position Interview: What Should I Wear?
Hi everyone! I have an interview coming up at a California Corrections Prison and was wondering if anyone knows what a male should wear for this interview. I was thinking about wearing semi formal attire: long sleeve button up shirt, tie, khakis and black shoes. Is that okay? I'd appreciate your help. If you have anymore advice as to what to expect during the interview that would be even more helpful. thank you all in advance for your reply.

Is Kaplan helpful?
kewlnurse2b, About a month prior to starting the actual classroom part of the course I read the book that comes with the actual course and watched all the review videos that are available online. This helped a lot for me. I also memorized all the lab values, which is all kaplan reccomends that you memorize. After the end of the review I chose the testing 3 weeks after the end of the class option. I went thru all the question trainers and qbanks as was outlined in the guide. All in all three weeks after the end of the class I answered 110 questions/day. I took the exam this past feb 6th and passed at 79 questions. Good luck to you!!! Also, I believe the quesitons kaplan gave us were more challenging than the actual nclex-rn. I think others would agree with me too.

PI nursing graduates?
You all have far more knowledge and experience on these topics. I was only telling my story of when I applied for the nclex rn last year.

Nursing Schools in the Philippines
Yes, the mode of instruction is in english. However, during clinicals and community health nursing you will have to interact with the patient' one on one. Since, english is not the primary language it is almost expected you learn the the language. As you probably should since you went to nursing school there. I didn't always have to speak in tagalog, but mainly in the public hospitals and community emersion in a depressed area is where I had to communicate in tagalog.

PI nursing graduates?
I also studied abroad in the Philippines to complete my BSN. Soon after my graduation of March 08 I flew back to California to prepare for the NCLEX-RN. Suzanne is right when she says it takes 4-6 mos before you receive approval to sit for the exam. In my case it took almost 9 mos. As you can imagine that was extremely frustrating. Like you I am also a dual-citizen and did not have to take the NLE for CABRN. I was only told to write a letter stating why I did not have to take the NLE. I simply said I didn't take the exam because I am a U.S. citizen and did not intend on working in the Philippines after graduation. Hope this helps.

barely passing NLE... how important is it??
Hi Suzanne. The board of registered nursing here in Calfornia only requested a letter from me stating why I didn't challenge the NLE. My paperwork was processed without any delays. Perhaps I went thru a loophole in the system. But, never was i required to show a license from the Phil.

I'm fortunate i didn't have to take the NLE upon graduation. I've heard of people failing the local board but passing the NCLEX-RN.

Nursing Schools in the Philippines
I studied at a small school outside manila in Cavite and was able to finish my degree in 3 years because I was able to transfer units from college in the states. I was born and raised in the states and could not understand or speak the language for nothing when i first arrived in the Phil. But, I was able to adapt and adjust with help from the supportive faculty and most of all my classmates.I did not have any problems after graduation with registering for the nclex-rn in california and passed the first time i sat for the exam. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message.

Thanks for all your posts. It's comforting to know others like you are going thru or have gone thru the same dilemma. Please keep us all posted on your results. I think for us in California we can find out as early as monday on the nsg boards site. Good luck to us.

nclex rn Stopped @ #79 Think i failed miserably
hi, everyone i would really like your input on my test experience yesterday morning 2/07. my computer stopped right after the 79th question..anywho, i only received 3 sata,no click & drag, no hotspot, no med calc, 6-10 drug questions and some teaching. i think i was asked the same drug twice.does this mean i didn't answer it the first time correctly? this is my first time sitting for the exam and i'm a nervous wreck waiting for the results. has anyone passed receiving an easy question on their last test question? i hear many times this is an indicator of a failing score. i will try to remain optimistic and positive while i wait. btw i took the exam in california. hope you all can share with me your insights on my exam and share your exam findings. thanks and god bless you all. post edited to remove specifics about questions that you had, not permitted to be posted per the document that you signed priior to starting the exam. suzanne4

February 09 NCLEX Test Taker Support
Hello everyone!!! I took the Nclex RN exam yesterday morning and feel I did not make it. I stopped after #79 on possibly a Recall/comprehension type question. As I realize this may be an indicator of my performance on the exam. I wish those who have just taken the exam and are awaiting the results the very best and to those who will be taking it soon as well. I'm a nervous wreck right now and I'm sure it is normal to feel this way as others have expressed concerns. Anyway I will just try to remain positive and keep my head up. It's not the end of the world pass or fail. All I can do is let it go and move on. This site is so helpful and I will plan on using it more often.
