Looking at CRNA programs part of the curriculum is doing a residency. Does anyone know if that is a paid residency like what physicians have? Or is it normally for no money, just credit and experience? I'm just trying to understand if there is any way to make money while in a CRNA program.[/quote']

Non paid. It is anywhere from 24 months to 36 months. Most are at least 28 months. You may have multiple clinical sites where you have to live for part of the time. Some people work weekends but many programs do not allow it.

The programs do not have a "residency", but you will have a great deal of clinical responsibility. And no, you will not be paid for your work. In fact, most programs charge a clinical fee for the privilege of working for free. Mine was $10,000 in 2002-2004. If you are considering working as an RN during school, I should let you know that in my class of 20, we had three students who attempted to work part time. Only one of the three graduated with us. The military is really the only way that I know of where you can get a salary while in school. I'm sure other ways exist, but I don't know about any. Most of our class borrowed enough to live on while in school. Good luck in your quest!

I'm a certified pharmacy technician and was going to go to school to become a pharmacist before I decided on Nursing. Pharmacist do not make 200,000 dollars. They make a little over 100,000 depending on the city.

My friend is a Pharmacist and he doesn't make $200,000/year. He was in the civilian sector and ended up joining the Air Force.

What's with this run of all these disparaging comments aimed towards newly graduated pharmacists who want to make 200K a year or more?? My sister-in-law's aunt is in pharm school right now and she needs to make at least that much, just to ever manage to be able to pay off all her bills.

This "Obamacare" sure isn't helping anything! (don't even get me started) At any rate, I definitely will not tell her about this thread. Being exposed to this throng of naysayers purporting that pharmacists can't make 200K a year could damage her already somewhat fragile psychological state.

You are absolutely right about Obamacare. My mother country has government healthcare and that's exactly what happened. People just don't have a clue.

Wow, you're really harsh wtbcrna...why is it so hard for people to voice their opinion without other people going off. It's really sad to me. This is a blog where everybody should be free to voice their opinion whether they have knowledge about a subject or not, without someone else tearing them down. You can tastefully disagree but honestly, we're all adults and not children and everyone should be treated with respect...bottom line.
