I swear I feel like I live in utter filth, between a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old and a husband the house is worse than when Im in school! It must be the Christmas leftovers everywhere and new toys. Is anyone able to keep their house clean and orderly with kids running around? if so what is your secret?

Personally I hate laundry (I dont fold) I just dont care- if there is a pile of clean clothes thats good enough for me.

And dont get me started on dishes.....

It must be a mental thing, some people just cant stand a mess- it eats them up inside. I WISH I was like that. I'll sit there and study my but off, but laundry....dont care so much. LOL

Oh deah...let me take inventory here.

Family room--Xmas tree is looking good still although room hasn't been vacuumed since before Xmas. Stuff, newspapers, remaining presents all around.

Kitchen--cleaned that the other day; presently has dirty coffee/tea cups scattered about and mess by the cat bowls. very messy eaters

Living Room--usually go in there to read; more quant and comfortable so I have various magazines laying around in stages of 'unread-ness'.

bedroom--beds not made; laundry needs putting away; other than that not too bad.

Other bedroom--well, at least I took the sheets off the bed after sis left and have laundered them but haven't remade the bed yet.

actually, only clean rooms right now are the bathrooms. That was my last chore and they haven't gotten messed up (YET).

kelly, I try to ignore the fact that my husband doesn't help me with housework. Otherwise, I just become very bitter and hostile. It is so disheartening to me when I come home from a trip (I travel

You're right, Mercy...:) I am fortunate to have a husband that is a good father to our child and good friend to me. Thanks for that insight.

Ummm...Yes. Not gross dirty, just messy.

I, too, have a 4 and 1 yr old and a husband. Vacuum, mop, and bathrooms once a week. Throw out stuff before it piles up, light and dark load every day, delegate, delegate, delegate. If you're over 3 feet tall, you gotta put your own laundry away. The baby is in charge of bringing the empty laundry basket as close to the dryer as possible without actually going into the garage. HILARIOUS! The toys aren't put away, they go into toy timeout (in the garage where I don't have to look at them). I'm a big "bin" person. Those large plastic boxes that slide into a wood shelving unit that you can get from Ikea are great. Makes toy cleanup easier. Other than that, I concentrate on the messiest room in the house...when I have time.
