hi everybody....i'm so glad to join this community...its a good way of communicating with nurses across the globe....
I'm from the Philippines and just passed the local board exam this June...I was advised by my aunt from Florida to take the NCLEX as soon as possible....I was about to ask some of my friends who are about to take the NCLEX on how to apply for eligibility to test but then they discouraged me because I'm already married, they said I must take CG exam first......Is it an issue, is taking the NCLEX related to civil status? I mean, are married foreign nurses not eligible to take the NCLEX? Is this related on what visa the US will give you? I'm also confused, is the visa that the US issue for foreign nurses who passed the NCLEX different from the visa they issue for foreign nurses who have CGFNS certificate...because this is the trend for some of the agency here in the Philippines, they require only CGFNS certificate....my aunt is very skeptic to this, she insist that I should be applying for an immigrant visa not a working visa which she said is very limited....i need some advice please...if i still need to take the CG exam...thanks
Please, never sign a contract if you do not like something in it. If it is not is writing then it doesn't exist, and may not be honored. If you read all of the posts here, there are many discussing families required to be at the Embassy interview because the family members are included. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
Unfortunately, there are many rumors floating around Manila that simply are not true.
Welcome to the site :)Every nurse wanting to practice in the US must pass the NCLEX. Depending on where you are going depends on CGFNS exam but I think there is only 1 state left now that requires that exam. quote]
This is not the first time you mentioned that there's only now 1 state requiring CGFNS exam. If you go the websites of the different BONs, most still require the exam, at least for internationally educated nurses. Vermont, Nebraska, are two of the states mentioned in some posts here as no longer requiring the CG exam, but they still do!!! Promise....

I still stand that there is only 1 state requiring CGFNS exam. You still require CES with CGFNS but not the exam. Suzanne has also said the same so both of us will not be lying. For immigration you need CGFNS exam OR NCLEX I have looked at a few BON websites and they mention you must meet certain requirements but only 1 said CGFNS exam all the rest said CES

I don't mean to prove anything here. But if a BON says CGFNS certification is a requirement, then I'd interpret it to include CGFNS exam, not the CES. Alaska, Iowa, Washington, New Hampshire, Wyoming, Vermont- they all mention CGFNS certificate.
I really hope I am wrong.

I just had a quick glance at the BONs you mention and I feel that you need CES report which is CGFNS way on confirming that your training matches theres. I have a licence with AZ and NY and haven't done the CGFNS exam just CES
We must all understand that the requirements for each State BON may change overtime and it's the responsibility of the individual applicant to be updated on his or her respective BON's requirements and the best way is for him or her to always visit her respective State BON's website.
She may also contact them thru e-mail, fax, and phone as needed.
