Anyone got a clearer view of the status of IEN applying for TWP? I am IEN from the Philippines and it seems that no visa (TWP) released lately by the embassy. In particular Alberta, the health care is being reorganized and I learned few applicant were on hold (one even completed the medical, waiting in UK). I am actually applying in BC and wondering if it affects all other states/territories. Anyone received the TWP lately?

Canada doesn't have states.

Fiona, well noted, it should be read as provinces/territory. Anyway if you have any idea, how long normally the visa will be issued after the medical exam. I took the medical exam last May 28 and 29, sent my last pending documents to Canadian embassy last June 09 but until now I did not hear any news. How long normally for the embassy to send the visa after medical? I'm in the last stage of processing, documents and medical done....

Also, Silverdragon if you are reading, do you have any info for this?

You can look it up yourself on the cic site under the visa section. Every Embassy has different waiting times. In London for instance it used to be 6-8 weeks.

And are you applying or have you applied and got the job?? For the TWP you need a job offer, if your employer sticks to it and you fulfill all other requirements you shouldn't have any problems.

5scats, yes I already have the job offer. Everything seems to be in place: LMO, job offer, TWP filing last march 23, medical done end of May, temporary registry from CRNBC granted, except for the visa issuance. I am just concerned coz a friend came from UK and informed that some were on hold by canada embassy this June even after the medical. Though those involved were applying in alberta. I am wondering if the affected area is only alberta or may involve all territories. Few friends also in Phils are on hold right now but again, the application is in alberta. Hope BC and other territories is still on the go...

yeah, most are but probably not for long. I know that people from Ontario are allready moving, so when you can recruit in the country first, you won't look overseas.

The guys who applied in Alberta will probably loose their job offer I guess, embassy is aware of the situation, so everything is on hold, and will likely be cancelled. You cannot cut jobs and still recruit overseas. I assume also that the people in Alberta, who are on a TWP will have to leave after their term is over. Or find a different employer.

I did post a link somewhere to the waiting times for the Canadian embassy in the Philippines. Unfortunately it is hard to put a time frame on stuff. I know a couple of UK nurses that applied and a couple was admitted and working before the first one got her TWP and she had submitted stuff before the others and had their medical.

gracie08, your on the right track, i also search and sent application through the website of health match BC. However, i learned that you must have eligibility first from CRNBC before they will consider you. i suggest you contact them again once you have the letter of eligibility.....
