Is canada in recession/ nurses on hold?

Anyone got a clearer view of the status of IEN applying for TWP? I am IEN from the Philippines and it seems that no visa (TWP) released lately by the embassy. In particular Alberta, the health care is being reorganized and I learned few applicant were on hold (one even completed the medical, waiting in UK). I am actually applying in BC and wondering if it affects all other states/territories. Anyone received the TWP lately?

hi speedo. can u update us on ur status? did u get ur TWP already? if so, when? wud realy aprec8 it. thanx! i am also waiting after my medical exam early this month. God bless.

yeah, most are but probably not for long. I know that people from Ontario are allready moving, so when you can recruit in the country first, you won't look overseas.

The guys who applied in Alberta will probably loose their job offer I guess, embassy is aware of the situation, so everything is on hold, and will likely be cancelled. You cannot cut jobs and still recruit overseas. I assume also that the people in Alberta, who are on a TWP will have to leave after their term is over. Or find a different employer.

Just to update you on the Alberta front they are honoring all job offers made to IENs already, just not recruiting new ones. Therefore, if you're already in the pipeline you'll be fine.

Thanks for the update!

Do you know if they were offered permanent positions, or do they have to leave after the term is done?

Unless they've changed the contract it reads that the position is permanent as long as the nurse keeps their work permit current.

Once you have been working fpr 3 months you can apply for the PNP for permannent residency & the hospital will sponsor you.
