Is anyone else as nervous as I am about starting school???

Published

I just picked up my books for the fall semester. I'm taking prealgebra, freshman english, and general psychology. I am SCARED TO DEATH!! My biggest fear is the math, because it's a real struggle for me. I've been out of school over 20 years, and I guess it didn't hit me or seem real until today when I purchased my books - I'M ACTUALLY GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!! OMG!!!

My two oldest kids (16 & 13) keep telling me I'll do fine - they have all the confidence in the world in my abilities. Why don't I???:o

Thanks for the support! It's nice to know I'm not the only one!:chuckle

I'm going for my ADN, but, unfortunately, I have a long list of prereqs that I have to take first. Oh, well...one step at a time, huh?!

You will be FINE!! I felt the exact same way you did. It was a long time for me also, like 13 years and Math was my worst subject, I mean I was horrible at it and so overwhelmed when I purchased my book and thought to myself there is no posssible way I am ever going to learn this, and guess what I shocked myself with an A in the class. For me I put much more effort into school now then I did along time ago. I want to achieve this goal I have now as I am sure you will too. I am happy for you and wish you the best of luck, you will adjust to it.

I am also scared about starting back to school after 15 years. I'm taking A&P 1 and nothing else this fall and hoping for the best! I ordered the book and paid for the class and promptly sat down and had a little panic attack. :chair:

We'll be fine... right ??? :uhoh3:

It's ok to be nervous! I am just starting too and with a family it seems really scary. Just remember this is something you really want so think positive about your classes. You'll get in class the first couple of days and realize it's not that bad. If you start having trouble with anything turn to people who can help. Teachers maybe even your 16 old with the math. You'll do just fine, believe in yourself!!! Good Luck!

I bet you will find it easier and more fun then it was back in high school. Life is so much more intresting when you get a few years behind you. Take advantage of any tutoring available if things are tough or just to build your confidence. I spent a lot of time in the math lab having younger students look over my homework to make sure it was correct abd I jnoew what I was doing. My school also offers tutors free of charge, all you have to do is ask. It's an advantage too because the tutors are students who have taken the class and done well in it. Many times they can provide lots of information to help you succeed. Plus it's a good way to meet some people and feel connected to the new school environment.

Have fun and learn lots!

I hope we will be fine. I am very excited to take anatamy this fall yet a little nervous. what if i bomb in these two classes part one and two. I have done so good up to this point. I have already went and purchases a anatomy made incredibly easy book and hopefully will get my books for that class before class starts. Oh and I will definitly pick up some flash cards too. I have a problem with reading sometimes and retaining all that info!!! Good luck.

I'm over being nervous. I'm feeling the fear now! :chuckle I'm taking 18 credit hours this semester and working around 20-25 hours a week, and I've been out of HS for 13 years.

School starts in 1 week, I'm taking:

Human Biology

Health Science Chemistry 1 (basic, organic and biological)

Pre-Algebra

College Writing

Medical Terminology

Yep, its fear for sure!

Good Luck to us all!!!
