Is there anyone else like me? (studying after 10 years)

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

ok here is (hopefully) the short version. I am a student grad of 1994 from a school of nursing here in Ohio. I wrote the nclex twice and failed both times. I stopped and became a stay at home mom. now 11 years later I have decided to take the boards again.

I called the ohio state boards of nursing and thank God there is no limit on years that you have to take the boards....whew! So I have been studying, and studying, and studying, and studying, and STUDYING!!!. I am so tired of studying. It is amazing how much I remember and yet how much I didnt' really learn.

I am using some nclex review books and the Springhouse Nclex review 3000 cd. I ordered the nclex flashcards that have the new format questions too.

and I have a couple questions.....

#1 Is there anyone out there that is or was in my situation?

#2 when taking the test online and such I am scoring anywhere from 74 to 85 % is that good? Does that really tell me anything?

#3 I am taking the sample test on http://www.rnboardreview.com the questions seem almost exactly what I have had on the nclex 3000 cd. Are these the same or taking from the same pool of questions? and are the actual test questions similar?

#4 has anyone had the same questions on the test seems like the actual questions they had on the boards?

Thanks ahead of time for your replys I know this is a great groups I have been reading some really great posts on here for the past 2 days!!

I have heard of situations such as this, but don't personally know anyone. Have you considered taking a review course? Usually, it may not be necessary, but since it has been some time since you have sat for NCLEX, there are many changes to the format. There are 'pick ALL that apply' answers, drag and pull in the correct order (usually a skill where you have to place in your mind what to do first, second, etc...). And, there may be other things that NCLEX may be focusing on at this point that wasn't before. Life happens, sometimes, so, don't feel bad that you didn't try again until now. Best wishes to you.
