I am trying to decide if I should attend Baker in Clinton Twp. or Macomb C.C.
I hear it takes about 2-3 years to get into the rn program at Macomb. Baker sounds like your chances are a little better as long as you keep your GPA above 3.8 and score well on the test after your pre reqs are done (not sure of the name). If you go to Macomb, what is your experience? Thanks!
No, I still had psych and ethics to take. For MCC you only have to take the math, vocab, grammar and reading comprehension portions of the HESI. So having your pre-reqs done isn't a necessity. But completing A&P and psych would be beneficial for the vocab portion. I know it's stressful. This past year has been one of the toughest of my life, between waiting for the "letter" and dealing with family problems, but keep your chin up if it's meant to be, it will happen. :) If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
Thanks for your help. I sent you a PM. I hope you can understand it, someone came into my office, and I had to rush.
I'm graduating from MCC in 3 weeks and I got into the program with a 3.7. I was the last class to get accepted by using gradepoint/entry exam. So I didn't have to take the HESI. They still determine who can get in by using your GPA from your last 12 credits and the HESI score, so you can get into the program with a GPA of under a 4.0, but you need to kick butt on the HESI. If you're really determined to get in, my advice would be to take 12 easy credit hours, like Nutrition, English, GYM, PSYCH, then take micro and A&P in the winter semester after you've already submitted your application for the program. Then if you get a 'B' in A&P, that doesn't kill your GPA. I didn't do that, but if I would have sat down and thought about doing it like that, I probably would have gotten in a year earlier.
Hi Tifffany, I start in October. See you then!
I need to get a PDA soon too. There are so many models out there, it's hard to figure out which one to get. I found one I really like with GPS so I can use it for other things, but it uses microsoft OPs and people seem to say that Palm PDA's are better. I don't know who to believe though! Make sure we can have one with a phone, some programs don't allow them.

Is anyone out there starting Macomb in October? I'm getting ready for the madness! Also, what PDA did you get? Thinking of switching my phone,so I will have a device that is all-in-one. Any ideas?

I bought a used Dell Axim50 off of ebay. I downloaded the free drug program off of epocrates.com. Many of my classmates bought the Palm TX and then paid $90 for the skyscape constellation software. A few people have the Palm Tungsten E2 and like it. I guess it's all about what features you want or how much $$ you have to spend :). I'm cheap :wink2:.
gentle tos reminder regarding naming instructors on the public boards;):
while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:
- it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
- while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
- please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

Were you able to apply in the fall or did you have to wait till the winter?
