Is Anyone Applying For Or Has Applied For Csu Chico State Nursing Program???

Is anyone applying for or has applied for California State University, Chico State's nursing program? I'm planning on applying for spring 08 and just wanted to know what the cut off points were. I'm so nervous about the whole point system. I've calculated/estimated my total points and it seems like I should be somewhere in between 83-85/100 points. Does anyone know if that's good enough? I highly doubt that's good enough to get me in. I'm just sooooo stress out about never getting in a nursing program soon.

I honestly don't remember how many hours of clinical I had to start out with. I think you do one 8 hour shift per week. I think. When I started the program they were still doing the 6 semester tract so I didn't even have clinical my first semester. But since they changed the program to a 5 semester tract I'm not sure how busy your first semester will be. I know most of the people in my class have held part-time jobs throughout the whole program so I'm sure it's doable. :)

She was also my instructor. She is awesome. I felt like my clinical group had the stricter instructor on doing care packets, but all the other students would say that they felt less prepared bc they weren't getting the same amount of work. As for the load of having a job and being in program it is doable, found myself having a lot of free time and I quit my job before starting program bc I thought it was going to be a lot of work. There are some students that are working and doing first semester at same time.

yeah, with CNA or other health care's exps, u r better off for the first semester. It was not the case for me tho! ^^

I'm living in UV, which is the appartment from Chico State. I got pretty active and became really bondy with my classmates. It's CHico, so all depends on how you like it to be. The only lifestyle I'm missing is the city scene and everything. I'm from the BayArea. but hey, more oxygen for u with the greeness!

I was with ------. I would be bias tho cuz she liked me!haha J9 is awesome too.

It is not fun, we didn't do to well on first one, but we have 2 more this upcoming week. I think we should do better since we know what to expect now hopefully.

I was also accepted to Chico State's nursing program and need to figure out where in the world I'm going to live. If any one needs a room mate, please let me know! Also, people who are already in the program, any advice on where to live or about the program in general?

I looked at places today with a friend, mostly two bedrooms for our price range (max $400 each/month). There were two really nice ones we looked at but for rent to be under $400 a person we would need to get a 3 bedroom at one and a 4 bedroom at the other. I'm 26/M starting nursing program this fall and he is 21 year old math major at Chico State.

i dont know if anyone is still following this thread but im trying to apply for chico state's program for spring 2012 and i was wondering if a 79-80 point is good to get in for the school? im sooooooooooooo nervous i must get into a school. i was not accepted to any of the southern schools for fall 2011 it was very competetive.

also does chico state accept TEAS IV version??

The Chico State bsn program is very competitive. The chances of getting accepted are better for the Spring. From what I know, the school will get around 200-300 applications (not bad at all, considering SDSU gets around 1800!). Again, from what I was told by the department secretary, the minimum score accepted last fall was 85 points, and last spring was 82. But it gets worse every semester.

I am applying for Spring 2012 with 87 points (pending a 90 on my TEAS, which i will take every day until I get it) and I am still nervous about that. My 87 points is a full 60 in grades, 20 from TEAS, 1 from overall GPA, 2 from science GPA, and 4 from completing all coreqs.

I hope to get another from working at a combined Chiropractic/health care facility (healthcare exp) and another point from living in Butte county (underserved county).

Also, for the TEAS, Redding offers it every weekday :)
