IRSC Spring 2016 hopefuls!

Published

Hello everyone. I'm currently enrolled in my last set of pre-reqs for the RN program. In my microbiology classs, I noticed there is high anxiety because the applicant pool looks strong this year and 90% of my class are nursing applicants. I would like to start a support group, for passing along information, questions, advice, or just emotional guidance. We can all be nurses. We can all do it. Let's help each other get there! Does anyone have any tips for the NLN exam? Unfortunately, I have class and cannot attend the free review sessions.

That's sucks! Yes, let's hope for good news!

Honestly, Its better to get everything done ahead of time including A&P 2. I know most colleges and universities require it to even apply. I was surprised to see IRSC didn't. Individuals that don't complete A&P 2 often struggle with Nursing. There is so much important information that can help with the Nursing Core classes.

I'm starting to think you're right! But I do feel that in our cases, (we are currently enrolled in APII ), we should be allowed consideration and THEN, if for some reason, we don't pass, have our acceptance revoked. I think that's fair. Right? Maybe it's too much work ...

Do you guys know if LPNs and Respiratory therapists were automatically accepted last semester or did that just start this semester?

That has been going on as far as I can remember. LPN's, Paramedics, and Respiratory therapist all were automatically accepted as long as they met the same requirements as everyone else and scored at least a 100 on the NLN.

I went to the Information Session about a year ago, and they said that it's like a "bonus" if you're already an LPN, but theres no extra points. I don't know when the changed that or if I had misheard. I talked to a girl who got accepted last semester with a 130 NLN score, so I'm hoping my 135 will be enough to get in.

Okay, so I've been lurking awhile (just didn't think I had anything useful to contribute, I was getting my info HERE!), but now that I see a few familiar names, I had to poke my head in.

Maybe it's been answered, but does anyone understand the rhyme or reason behind why acceptance letters comes in waves? I, too, didn't have a check on the Computer Competency line (so I contacted the nursing dept, like probably 200 other people). Also, I have points for my 2 pre-req classes, but no check marks.

Good luck to all!

OK, I think I found out to see if you got accepted. If i'm right, I think i'm in! Go to your IRSC account. Go to interactive degree audit. Mine list Nursing at the top and says

What was your scores?

My total program hours says 72. I wonder why the difference??

Mine has a Y beside by prg adm status too. I am not totally convinced I have been accepted. I wish I looked at prg adm status a few weeks ago to see if their was a N. Has anybody ever seen a N beside it?

Mine says N. My score was 162 and 3.1 gpa. But I am missing a check mark by computer competency and College Level Placement.
