Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!
Tell me about yourself !
Our schedule was: Monday 8-1 in fort pierce for lecture (optional if you're an internet student)
Tuesday 8:30-12:30 fort pierce lab
Wednesday 8:30-12:30 fort pierce lab
Now, we are in clinicals. Monday still 8-1 in fort pierce (optional if you're internet student)
Tuesday 6:30-2:30 clinical location
Wednesday 6:30-2:30 clinical location
Clinical times vary, but usually start at 6:30
It's very different. It's been a struggle for me... I started catching my breath about week 6... not trying to scare you, just telling you what no one really told me. The tests are not like gen ed tests. They are multiple choice, but you need to choose the BEST or the FIRST thing you would do as far as applying the nursing process. I still haven't figured out my best learning style. I can't read all the material and retain it, I try to make each section interactive, by taking notes, practice quizzes and etc. Study groups help too.
Lecture is only offered in Fort Pierce. If you choose to be an internet student, you will have the option of going to Fort Pierce on Fridays to take the test with other students, or going to a testing center at a campus closer to you. I have been taking my exams at the Mueller center on Friday mornings. Lecture is optional if you are an internet student, I go to class each Monday. I need to hear the lecture in person to help me retain the information. (at least, this is how it is for my term - not saying it can't change.)
I won't lie... It's overwhelming. The teachers are amazing. All there to help you succeed. Can't say a bad thing about any of them. They each have their specialty and strength and that is generally the subject they teach us, but they definitely work as a team.
Hi,
so today we all got our letters and I was put on the alternate list.
I have a few questions, just wondering if anyone has any info :)
Does anyone know how many alternates were accepted last semester? Or if most people ended up getting in?
& what goes on at the first mandatory meeting? Is it just an info session or do they also begin collecting paperwork/doing drugs screens and stuff?
thanks!!

I have another question....
What is your schedule like? How many days a week, times, etc.
Just wondering so I can think about what my work schedule could be like if I get accepted.
Thanks!
