IRSC spring 2014 hopefuls!

Published

Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!

Tell me about yourself !

One week until our meeting and I am trying unsuccessfully to get all my ducks in a row! The government healthcare website is understandably frustrating since it is just getting rolling, but it is not helping me "take care of business". I was hoping to get some of these requirements we will need to meet done prior to our orientation so I can keep concentrating on my classes. I think I am just going in circles!

Does anyone know of a good doctor in the Stuart area?

Just a heads up to anyone who attended high school in Indian River County. I called the school board and they said that they have copies of shot records. I was so relieved!

Hey everyone! Did anyone here take Human Development online? What was the midterm like? I have to take my midterm Wednesday this week and just looking for a little insight... is it mainly definitions? Or is it more application? Thanks in advance!

Background check, fingerprinting today. Anybody done this yet?

I did mine yesterday.. very simple process :)

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I spoke to Julianna about the online class. It is true that you still can attend all the classes on campus, but missing does not count against you. Also clinicals are assigned by the instructors, whereas in the past you could choose.

I just registered. Decided on the regular class though. Although the online option was very tempting, I know I would skip too many classes because I could just listen to them online. I took A&P I online and it was so much extra work. Does anyone know about the first day of class? I thought it was 1/8, but on my registration it shows that classes start on 1/13. It also seems that we have class 4 days a week most of the time.

Another question, I just did some of my vaccines and was told that the TB test is on back-order and they don't know if they get it back in by December. Does anyone know of a Dr.'s office that is not out of them? I know we still have until 12/2 to get it done, but I want to be prepared.

I just talked to Juliana. If they are out of the TB skin test we have to do the blood test which takes longer to do. So we have to plan ahead.

Is that for the blood test or the skin test?

I must have misunderstood, I thought the blood test was the faster of the two confirmation methods.

I did the TB Gold (blood test) got my results in 72 hours. Skin test is checked 72 hours after admin. So they are about the same. I have to re-do tho. Took it in Sept, unaware there would be a time frame :-)

On the PowerPoint it states that the blood test has to be repeated 1 week after the first reading.
