I plan on applying to IRSC's Nursing program for Spring 2017, and thought I would create this thread for us to talk about the application process! I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to study for the NLN? I keep seeing that they're updating the exam on IRSC's website, so I'm not sure if I should use the current study materials? Also has anyone had troubles figuring out transfer credits? I will have a BS from FSU and the courses that I've taken for A&P and Microbio have different course codes than the ones IRSC offers.

Hi, I am taking the test on the 16th. Can someone clarity how many minutes can we expend in each individual passage block? I thought the English section was 40 minutes total with 60 questions. Someone here say we can expend 40 minutes in each passage is this true ? Ty
I took the NLN today, this is my first time posting in this thread so hi everyone! I've been reading the comments and so far everyone that has taken it has explained it pretty well on here. Know your biology and A&P. I just about bombed the verbal at only 69% correct I'd say it was due to the vocabulary section, I felt pretty confident with the reading comprehension. I did really well on the math and science. My composite score was a 137. As long as you've been studying and practiced time management you should be good!
What type of questions were they asking in the science portion? I heard they point to a part in the body and you would have to know what it is.
I don't really remember any questions like that. My best suggestion is to really read into the Biology and A&P section of the NLN book. There's some chemistry and physics but if you've taken a chemistry class you should be good, it doesn't get very complex.

I think its only 2 hours total. Can someone who took it already verify how many questions are in each section? Is it 40 for verbal, 30 for math, and 40 for science? Or is it still 60/40/60?

They say that it is two hours total but when I took it they broke the verbal into blocks. 9 blocks, each block had one passage to read and 5 questions that went along with each passage. Everytime you started a new block, the clock reset to 40 mins. Then there were 30 vocabulary questions and you had 40 mins for those as well. The math was 40 questions in 40 mins. The science was 60 questions in 40 mins.

So technically you can spend more than 2 hous on the exam?

I've made A's in Bio, Chem and A&P 1 but still feel that wasn't enough for the science part. I also knew that review book backwards and forwards. I don't have my score yet. I have a question on extra points...I thought for every credit hour (4 for bio and lab) you multiply each credit by 4 for an A, 3 for a B and so on. A few people in my micro class said they attended the latest info session and if you make an A its just 4 points, B is 3 and so on. Does anyone know the correct scoring system?

You are correct, it is 4 points for a A multiplied by the credit hours. Total available points are 32 because they count A&P1, A&P1-Lab, Micro and Micro Lab.
