IRSC Fall 2014 Hopefuls!

Published

Hey everyone! I know this is super early to be talking about the fall semester but I just got my denial letter for the Spring 2014 semester so I wanted to make this group for anyone that's applying or didn't make it in like me. I got a 109 score on my NLN exam which makes my total points for program 130. I took A&P I & Micro which accounts for my points. I would like to retake the NLN in 6 months & hopefully I can do much better. I'm currently enrolled in A&P II & plan on just studying my butt off for the nln in the process. Classes I have left before I'm done with all my "pre-requisites" are A&P II (which I'm currently in), Chemistry, and Nutrition. (which I plan on taking those in spring/summer). Maybe we can get a study group together eventually if anyone is interested! Best of luck to everyone! :)

Colive, what was your score if you don't mind telling? I know an alternate with a score of 145

My score is a 142.

I'm trying to keep my hopes up. I know last semester all the alternates were accepted and they accepted 90 people rather than 70.

I'm really hoping for the best!!

Any info to make me feel better will help

That would be great if they kept all the alternates again!

Just a little insight, not all alternates were accepted last semester :( I was one of them and never got accepted.

I am taking human development, nutrition, ethics and enc1101. Just to get them out of the way. I have the rest from previous stuff I've done.

Just wanted to give you some heads up about these classes. I wish you luck & I'm sure you'll do great! I took human development - loved it personally took it online thought it was pretty easy (it made it a little easier since the 1st few chapters are about birth & infancy & I just had a baby at the time lol. Nutrition - im taking now in class, I like it it's very interesting but just a lot of information but he lets you take all tests online (except midterm & final) but it's pretty straight forward. Ethics - never took sorry & ENC 1101 - This is personally my best subject I really enjoyed it but I also took it in summer & every week a paper is due. Not just a short 1 page - he gave pretty cool & easy topics so it wasn't too hard to come up with something just had to be long enough. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the heads up Jessica. I am working my way through the nutrition book right now and my head is spinning. It's a little bit of information overload for me right now. It is really interesting but a lot of information. I was planning on doing the classes online to avoid the driving back and forth. Can't wait to get started

I took human development and nutrition together one summer semester. It wasn't too bad. In human development I had a 1-2 page paper due every week, but I really liked that class. I took nutrition online and that was an information overload to me. I took English 1 and ethics about 2 years ago, so I'm not sure how much they have changed. Ethics was an easy A with my teacher. We watched videos every class and had one paper due at the end of the semester.

Mariehd, oh wow!

I spoke with someone I know who works in the nursing dept and she said she's never heard of an alternate not get accepted.

What was your score? If you don't mind me asking

@Colive321 I was an alternate with a score of 152 and did not get in for the Spring 2014 class. I know of one other person who was also an alternate that did not get in. There may have been more, but they never tell the numbers. I just don't like when people say all alternates get in, bc that got my hopes up very high, only to be crushed at 5:00pm on the first day of classes (as that is what I was told how long I would have to wait to possibly "get the call")

I checked everything off of my list as if I were accepted (I just did not purchase the books until I would know for sure, as that was $$$$) and went to every meeting, appointment, etc. just be sure to stay up to date with everything and go with it as if you are accepted. Fingers crossed for you!

My score is a 142.

Only 70 were accepted into this semester.

Wow...crazy cause I got this info from someone who works in the nursing dept.

& I also heard they accepted more people at the Chastain campus and more at the okee campus from more than one person.

This waiting thing is so stressful..I'd almost just rather know I'm not accepted sometime soon rather than go through everything and wait that long.

Especially when I'm trying to plan ahead as far as work and everything

super stressful!!

Hello all:nono:

Just wondering if anyone knows someone in the spring ADN and has any inside information on the fundamentals books?
