IRSC Fall 2017 applicants

Published

Hello, I am interested in apply to the fall 2017 nursing program at IRSC. I figured I would start this so we all can discuss any of each other's questions. This is my second time applying last application period I had a total score of 136. I am feeling confident with the new gpa requirements and all the studying I have done so far that I will be accepted this time. For those of you who have taken the NLN before.. what do you feel helped you the most studying?

Good luck everyone!!

Hi, I am also applying for the Fall 2017 RN program. I have a total of 167 and a GPA of 3.76. I didn't get in last semester because I didn't have institutional GPA, I do now so hopefully I will make it this time. I've been thinking about retaking the NLN I got a 139 last time but thinking about trying to boost my points a little bit.

is the 136 your NLN score or total score with AP and Micro?

That's a great score! And yes 136 was my total score including the NLN and my points from micro and A&P. I wasn't very prepared for the NLN last application .. I started studying early so hopefully I will score higher on the NLN this time around and have a better chance of getting accepted

What did you focus on while studying for the NLN last application? I have been using the red NLN exam prep book

That's the one I used! I mainly focused on vocab and read the tips on answering questions for the passages. I also studied the science section but it didn't help too much for my NLN test because it had a lot of diagrams on electrical circuits which weren't covered in the book. I didn't study the math because I'm pretty good at it so I wasn't worried. I would definitely do all the practice tests in the book because there were questions from the book on my test.

I don't feel to worried about the reading passages and the math especially now that we get a calculator. My main focus this time is the vocabulary which I'm terrible at and the science.. last time when I studied for the science I focused almost all of time trying to understand chemistry and physics because I was so worried a lot of that was going to be on my test.. and in all reality my test was mainly anatomy and biology.

I applied last time and didn't get in as well, I do think the GPA will narrow it down a lot and give us a boost, I got a 120 on the NLN the first time taking it, my total score was 152... and my GPA was 4.0. Now I've completed by AA, I have a 3.94 GPA, I plan to retake the NLN May 15 in hope of getting a better score.

I had to retake my NLN this application and I scored a 122 :( I have a 4.0 GPA but I ran out of time on the vocab/reading section of the NLN and pretty much bombed it but did really well in my math and science. Does anyone know when they'll be sending out acceptance letters?

Wow, you did really well the first time around and still didn't get in, now I'm scared lol. I just took the test on May 9th and my total score with micro and anatomy was a 146 and I have a 3.38 GPA.

Hi All! I took my exam on Monday. Just wanted to share scores and cheer each other on! This is my first time taking test. Weakest test subject was Verbal (although academically it's my strongest ~ go figure). My composite score was 137 and with points I'm at 162. Hoping it's enough...I was really shooting for a total score of 170 so I could rest easily, but no such luck. You're scores look good. I've heard of several (ok more than several about 5) that scored in the low 100's, not sure what their total points were. Hoping we all get accepted!

You're GPA Rocks! I'm only at a 3.56.
