IRSC ADN Applying for fall 2013

Published

Hi.Anyone out there applying for fall 2013? There are changes this semester and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of score we may need on the NLN to have a chance at a spot. The application packets aren't available yet and I'm getting anxious! Anyone know when the will put them out?

Sounds great dreamgirl823...I have also started the math and so far so good. I am going to try to get all of it complete over the summer as well. I got the main textbook through Amazon for a pretty good price. I know they said to wait, but the price was right. I did check with the publisher first to make sure a newer edition wasn't coming out, which they aren't until summer 2014. It's HUGE and checking the reading assignments there is a lot of reading, so best to get the math out of the way for sure.

I am just learning about the Google Hangouts as well, but seems like it would work pretty well. You can video chat with up to 10 people at once, share documents, and screens etc. If you want to check it out email me at [email protected] and we can experiment with it. Good luck on the math.

@reg4fun69 that sound like a great idea. I have never used google handouts but i am looking to be apart of a study group. I have also started the math. It seems pretty easy....for now lol. I dont have a gmail but id definitely make one to study.

Great @Allison1993...looking forward to it. I do think you would have to get a gmail email account in order to utilize the hangout, but that's not a biggy. So far it seems pretty neat and that it would be great for a study group. Not to say that we couldn't ever have a traditional meeting, but doing it this way saves money in gas. I am just learning about it myself and will be figuring it out as I go.

Good luck on the math.

Has anyone heard anything about alternates? Im 150 and still have heard nothing. Trying to be patient, but its not easy:roflmao:

@ smileanyway...So I just called the Nursing Dept this morning to ask about enrolling in the summer CNA class in case I don't get in and was advised that it would conflict with the RN program if I got in cause CNA doesn't finish till 9-24-13 and not to waste my money or time cause I wouldn't be able to finish. My impression was that maybe there weren't that may alts left and she thought I still stood a chance cause she put me on hold and had time to check. Here's the bad news. I asked her if she could tell me if the open slots from the background and drug screen were already filled and she said yes. So I asked her if that meant that the only next open slots would be after eliminations on 8/5 and she said yes. So unless someone notifies them and declines their slot we wont know anything till those last 2 weeks before class. She also said that you could be notified as late as the 1st day of class. Anyway I thought you might be interested in that info. Good luck with that patient waiting cause I know even after all that I will still be checking my email. :sarcastic:

Who knows, they keep it so top secret, its really silly. I was told there were 30 alternates and that at another campus prob 20 students will be placed there? I know the 155-151 got in a couple weeks ago, thats only 5 so long way to go. Time will tell, like you, I will keep checking my emails:yes:Good luck, will let you know as soon as I hear anything. Thanks for the info

hi smileanyway, I do not believe that each person has a different score. because, I also received an overall score of 150 including my anatomy classes. I also know at least two more people that are overall 150. so I believe there could have been more than five people that got in with the score ranging from155-151.

I also saw someone that got in with a 149, so I do not know how they do it. i guess we have to wait and see.

@and1096 ... you are absolutely right there could be many people with the same score.

@smileanyway ... Don't lose hope ... I was accepted within the last two weeks before class started.

Wishing you all luck!

Holy cow, myself and my 2 children have been down with the flu (influenza A) for nearly a week. We will all most definitely be getting our flu shots next year! Here's a big FYI, I went to the health dept to get my immunizations...I got MMR, (for some reason I didn't have immunity to Measles when I got a titre done years ago) TDAP, and HepB for a whopping cost of $257! Jeez, I thought the health dept was supposed to be reasonable. I still have to go back for a second MMR, and a second and third HepB (which I will still have to sign the declination because they won't be finished before 8/5), and the TB test and physical. Just wanted to give you all the heads up, if you are planning to go that route it's costly. Also, has anyone signed up for the CPR session? Just wondering if anyone wanted to take it together or when you were going, might be cool to meet before classes begin...just a thought.

reg4fun69 and Allison1993 ~ My gmail is: [email protected] would love to get familiar with the google hangouts before classes start that way we can dive right in. Just let me know when a good time for you is and we can work something out. I didn't get very far on the math, but my goal is also to complete it before classes begin.

reg4fun69 ~ that is awesome that you got the text book for such a great price on amazon...I will def have to check it out. Yeah, we will definitely need to stay on top of the read cause there sure is a lot of it!

simlenayway and LMB1979 ~ definitely try to stay positive, I know how hard it is but I am sure may people will not have all of their check list items done when they are supposed to...just make sure you stay on top of everything and I have a good feeling you guys will get in :)

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer thus far! :)

I'm taking my cpr recert this Friday in FT Peirce @6:)

I am taking the full CPR class in SLW on 7/19 if anyone is interested it taking it then. :)
