Iowa Democrat asks House to review 6-vote race

Democrat Rita Hart asked the U.S. House on Tuesday to investigate and overturn the race that Iowa says she lost by six votes, arguing that 22 ballots were wrongly excluded and others weren’t examined during the recount.

In a notice of contest, Hart argued that she would have netted 15 votes and defeated Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks had the 22 ballots been tallied in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.

Hart’s filing asks the Democratic-led House to nullify the state-certified results, count the excluded ballots and conduct a uniform hand recount in the district’s 24 counties. She expressed confidence she will be the winner after that process.

Based on the rules and the law, Hart lost. She wants to sidestep the proper process, convince Democrats in Congress to count certain votes that she feels were wrongly excluded, and have herself declared the "real" winner -- overruling voters and Iowa's system...

She's not Trump, that's how it's different, I guess. The cognitive dissonance is loud among the steal the vote crowd.

How is this different from much of what Mr. Trump is trying to do?

1. She has an actual election lawyer.

2. There is an actual chance that there is enough difference in the vote count that she may have won.

3. She is not trying to throw out the votes of major urban areas in multiple states.

4. And yeah, she's not a Republican or Trump.

Hart Files Appeal With US House, Requesting It Review Six-Vote Margin In 2nd Congressional District Published December 22, 2020

...   Hart’s legal team argues they have identified 22 ballots that were legally cast but not counted, in part due to election worker error. If tallied, the ballots would net Hart 18 votes, according to her campaign, more than enough to give her the lead.

Additionally, Hart's campaign is requesting the House conduct a full recount by hand all of the more than 400,000 ballots cast in the race, arguing that a lack of uniformity in how counties handled undervotes and overvotes during the previous recount process left scores of ballots uncounted...

...  “We know there are legally cast ballots in this race that have not been counted. In fact, the state and the Republicans agree that there are legally cast ballots that were not counted as part of the election,” Hart campaign attorney Marc Elias said...

...   The filing of the petition with the Committee on House Administration officially begins a review process outlined under a 1969 federal law. In a process which that could take months...

...   Hart has faced criticism from Iowa Republicans and some of the state’s newspaper editorial boards for not first appealing to the state's courts. The process outlined under Iowa law would’ve allowed a panel of judges a matter of days to review the ballots, which Hart has called insufficient...

...   Miller-Meeks’ campaign has 30 days to file a written response to Hart’s filing...

You missed my point.  My question wasn't directed towards what Ms. Hart was doing.  Rather, it was directed towards Mr. Benson's comments in the Townhall editorial Steal Attempt Now Official: Iowa Democrat Asks House Democrats to Overturn Election She Lost.

ETA: I fully support her challenge to the election.  However, if she is going to challenge the results, she needs to challenge the results in toto, and not just the 22 ballots she claimed were wrongly excluded.
