Inver Hills/ Century College hopeful

Published

I just applied to both Inver Hills and Century's 2011/2012 nursing program, I got a letter back from Inver saying I am included in the selection process and will find out on March 1! I have so many mixed emotions and I have worked so hard for this.. I'm scared to death and this waiting is killing me!! I know many of you are feeling the same way, let's vent!

I got #111. I'm an Inver student though, I hope that makes a difference... I'm bummed to, but TRYING to keep in mind there were applicants from both schools, therefore more drops?? Hope we here from Inver soon. I also applied to the U.

Woops posted the same thing 2x...

Looks like I am #77 on century's wait list. From what I understand in the letter, spring semester has not been calculated into this number. So if they accept 50 people in spring I am #17 on the wait list? Crossing my fingers for Inver too...

Does anybody know how deep they go into the alternate list for Fall? Is there a FAQ admissions for Century? I'm #96 - - -This is almost worse than waiting for the letter in the first place.

That is what I am wondering as well. I know Inver takes 60 in the fall and 50 in the spring. So what I assume is that I REALLY am #17 on the wait list since I am actually #77. That is if they take the same amount of people. I still don't think that is very good odds, I think Impatientlywaiting said she was #3 on the alternative list last year at inver and did not get in. The thing we do have in our favor is I think a TON of people applied to both Century and Inver this year because they just split. So maybe people will get into both so the numbers could be higher then normal?

I wanted to chime it. I graduate from Century this May. The first time I applied I was given a wait list number of 78, and I did not get in that year. It might be a little different with the schools separating. At the time I was applying, the first 50 on the list were sent placed in the spring start date.

Good luck to all of you! Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Thanks Scandel, that's what I was kinda thinking. Hopefully I'm a bit higher on my first choice school!

I've been following this discussion since January when I turned my applications in. I am going crazy!!! I got my letter from Century today too (my first choice) and am alternate #44 for the fall. Do you think it's safe to say I'm in for spring? I don't really care which semester I'd start, but I don't want to have to wait another year to apply and then wait forever to find out if I've been accepted.

Rachel- I could be wrong but the way i am reading the letter they have not accepted anyone for spring semester yet and they will use the alternate list to accept spring semester students. This could be completely false, I am just speculating, but I would guess you would be fine since your alternate number is under 50.

Rachel, I would say your in for Spring. I dont know how many they are taking this year. It used to alternate 50/60 or 60/50, depending on what the other school did. I dont know how it's going to work with the school now seperate. More people applied at each school this year. Last year my origional number was 75 with 300 applicants. Now I am number 111 with 400+. It's not my number one, I've only taken classes at Inver, so (I HOPE) my number will be better there. I was number 3 once they had their spring class. I would think we will all move up the list much faster since everyone could apply to both schools. I guess we'll see...

I know it's hard but dont get too discouraged yet. You're right, I think we'll move up the lists MUCH faster this year with people being able to apply to both

Right, nobody get discouraged! I am a Century student, so I bet my Inver letter will have a much higher waitlist number. Century told me a few weeks ago that we shouldn't expect our letters until mid-late April, so maybe Inver will be quicker than we thought too. Good luck!
