Introductions

Hi everyone! I just thought I'd start the new State forums off with an introduction thread. Please feel free to reply to this thread if you wish. Otherwise, feel free to start a new topic if you wish to discuss other topics that are local or state related. Enjoy!

Hi, I'll be starting a ADN Program in January. I'm located in San Antonio and will be a student at the Baptist's School.

Anybody out there familiar with the program if so what's it like?

I was also wondering if anyone out there has ever utilized "older edition" textbooks for classes instead of going with the most current text for class. The reason I'm asking is that I'm down to my last few bucks and still have about 6 books to purchase. Needless to say the older edition textbooks can be purchased for much less.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your replies.

Another "naturalized" Texan here..I live in a "place" near Lockhart. Looking for full time work, but Austin is not friendly for LVNs. Start orientation (for PRN )at a LTC facility on Monday.

When Brian began the state areas, I was back in MI fulfilling BLVNE requirements. Due to my dad being diagnosed with Lung CA I ended up being there 20 months (board requirements met in 7..) I am so glad to be home with my husband and 2 kids still at home, but this 70 degrees at christmas time is UNNATURAL!! LOL

Hello all,

I am a student in E.Tx. I will be applying to nursing school this mo. and I have a problem with the background check. I am 40 yrs old, and about 13 yrs ago I was convicted of a fellony assalt charge (domestic in nature, I put my x-wifes boyfriend in the hospital) I have paid restitution to the insurance co. and met all the requirments of my probation (I was punished under a misdermeaner statute, only got probation and restitution) some yrs ago. I am remarried and have 10 children, and I wish to become a nurse. Now I find out this may keep me from taking the NCLEX. does anyone have any Idea how the board might react when I submit a declaration of past offences to the nurse board ?

I just realized I hadn't introduced myself on this board, even though I have been posting!

I just graduated nursing school in Virginia in Dec. 03 and have accepted a job in Mcallen, Tx. I plan to move ~March, or whenever the Tx BNE gets itself together and issues my ATT for the NCLEX!

Glad to be hearing from y'all!

(BTW, y'all is a word in VA and NC, too!)
