How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?

Hi everyone! I've been visiting this forum for a couple of months, but this is my first post. I'm 45, happily married for 29 years with three wonderful kids --- a 26 year old daughter, 22 year old son, and 21 year old daughter-in-law.
I'm just starting a two-year ADN program next week. Orientation is tomorrow --- I'm really excited, but nervous too! I've been looking through the MANY textbooks and hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew! Any pointers anyone would like to share would be gratefully received.
Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
Hey everybody! I'm Joe. I'm 29(30 in June:o ), still SINGLE, no kids:p . I'm a GPN (boards this spring) and 3 semesters to go. I love nursing. Should have done this years ago, but I spent my 20's in the Army and running my ex's tattoo shop. Welcome to all the other new members/students, and good luck!
Hi all,
I am 32 (well, will be this coming Friday) and taking pre-reqs right now. I am hoping to apply to nursing school at the end of May. I have two sons, ages 11 and 15, and got engaged over Christmas to a wonderful man who is supporting me all the way (finally!)
I am very interested in psych, although right now I do clerical work (that's an understatement!) at a hospice and my boss is amazing. She has started inviting me to the interdisciplinary team meetings and encourges me to follow the cases and ask plenty of questions. I would work for her after graduation in a minute.
Nice to meet you all!

Hi lpn2005, Kim here. Just wanted to let you know that I know how you feel! My hubby is going TDY the week after I start school, UGH!!!
Don't let anyone discourage you. Theres always people that have to be negative. You just go for it, do the best you can and show her what a great nurse you'll be! If you need to chat or vent you can email me. A military wife is a tuff enough without nursing school, I can only imagine what it will be like for the next year and a half! Keep your chin up and good luck!
Kim :)
