How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
welcome! glad to hear you are going for your dream!originally posted by lpn2005hi all!
i am a 35 year old military wife and mother of one. i am starting nursing school on 2/2/04. we are currently stationed in virginia. if all goes well i will graduate in the spring of 2005.
i am so nervous about going back to school. i have been discouraged by so many not to enter the nursing field. one huge "non-supporter" being my mother-in-law. she is by the way an rn. i however, made up my mind over a year ago just to go for it! my husband is very supportive, but unfortunately gone a lot due to his job.
i am so glad i found this website. i know it will be a handy resource. good luck to all in their studies!
Hi,
Jen, 37, got my associates and currently in my third year towards BSN, got a couple of minors on the way which added two years, (minor in Spanish and Education.)
I start clinicals in the fall. Took a superlong route to get here but, it truly removed any doubt that this is where I belong. :) Interested in community health care and education also in rural and tribal health.
Nice to be here and also appreciate the large volume of posters and readers!
Jen
p.s. bet there are nurses from my Hospital here too!
hello everyone,
my name is shonda. i live in san pedro, southern california.
i am married with 2 beautiful girls at home 4 and 7. i will be 31 thursday.
i am going to start school to get my pre-reqs out of the way to start nursing school.
i am weighing the options to either school for lvn first or go straight to the adn program. i am looking at some schools but i know compton community has not waiting list for their program.
i am also looking at biolo univeristy too because they have the 4 year degree program. i am looking at other routes too.
any advise would help because i am active duty and i am trying to work school around my hours and it is hard to find out what to take first and how to go about it without interfering with work. i can not get out of active duty at this time because it is our main income.
i am hoping to find some wonderful study mates in my are as well just starting or already in. i need to find some good friends here that have the same interests as i.
thanks so much and hope to talk to you all more.
god bless
shonda
Shonda, I am from Carson, CA and I would look on the California board of nursing for NCLEX pass rates for Comton Community College because last time I checked they were pretty low. A friend of mine went to Harbor College Nursin program which is probaly a little closer to where you are. Anyway welcome!

HI! My name is Mary Beth! I will be 23 in less than a month and I am in my 2nd quarter of a 6 quarter ADRN program! We are in our Med/Surg unit and I love it! Especially clinicals! I don't have any children and I'm not even close to considering marriage right now. Work and school pretty much keep me busy. Every now and then I get to sneak out of the house! Its demanding but I know it will all be worth it. My main goal is to finish and eventually get my Master's degree. I want to be a nurse practitioner. I'm really interested in Neonatal nursing, but I'm starting to find that the possibilities are endless! Good luck to everyone! May God bless you all! In the short time I have been doing clinicals I have already discovered that it takes someone special to be a nurse! I especially admire you guys that are doing this while raising families and managing a home!
Good Luck!
Mary Beth
