Introductions:"New" and "Old" Students.

How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Hi, i'm Beccy, mother of a 2yo girl (3 in november) I've only just found this forum, quite by mistake actually. It's amazing what doing a google on Hodgkins lymphoma will do for you. And, i already recognise one person on here already from a diff forum (Yes, AM, i am stalking you :hhmth:)

I'm almost finished my EN thru TAFE at Port Adelaide. I start my clinical placement at the start of November this year. i cant wait!

My name is Allison, and I am a 22yo student at CCAC South in Pittsburgh. I've been going there since 2005. First as a Psych major, then undecided, then switched to Pre-nursing. I've gone full time and part time, worked part time and full time. I've been laid off from both full time jobs I've ever held. The second time a year almost to the day from the first time. Go figure. :-) Now I'm just going to school full time. Although next semester I only need Microbiology, so I'll try to find work then. I've taken the NET already and scored in the 98th percentile (yay!) I'll apply to the Nursing program in November to start next fall. Over the summer I took advantage of my school's "Displaced Worker Program" for laid off workers. I got to take a free EMT course. It was the hardest summer class I've ever taken. It overlapped with fall semester by a couple weeks, which was very stressful, but I am now a certified EMT! With that, I will look for a part time Patient Care Tech position to hold me over until I'm done with school. I don't know what area of nursing I want to go into yet, but I do have some plans. After I get 2-3 years experience nursing, I want to travel the country with my fiance travel nursing, and buy land somewhere for a sustainable farm. And get married at some point in all that. :loveya:

Hey,

I'm Kate, I'm in my second year of the ADN program at A-B tech in Asheville, NC. I have 3 young boys (8, 6, and 4), and am getting ready to start my peds clinical. I just finished mother/baby. I like to knit scarves because they're pretty mindless (the way I make them, anyway :specs:, hang out with my kiddos, cook good foods (and eat them), and read. These are things I have little time for, however, because of the aforementioned student-hood. I'm looking forward to getting to know many of you, and hope to celebrate our journeys together.

My name is Ciearra Im a 22 year old LPN student in my 3rd trimester. I expect to graduate in Feb 2010 Im so excited and scared at the same time. (of HESI mostly and NCLEX) But I believe I will prosper.

Hey everyone! Glad this thread has been revived! I am a 30year old stay at home mom of 3 amazing kids, 4.5 boy, 3 girl and 17 month old boy. I started back to school when my daughter was 6 months old, and had to start over, because they didn't want to accept my credits from a previous degree. So, I have been trekking along, and had another kid along the way, going a mix of full and part time. The delayed entry was a blessing with having my "suprise" baby, because I was able to take online classes when he was still nursing constantly. Now we are both ready for me to be gone 5+ nights a week for school. I got my provisional acceptance, and if I pass the TEAS, will be starting in Jan 2010. I plan to go right through to my BSN, and then try and find a job on a maternity unit. By the time I graduate, I will also be a certified birth educator, an IBCLC, and a La Leche Leader, so I hope that gives me a foot in the door on the unit. I keep getting told to keep your head down, and mouth shut. So, I guess that is what I will do! And study study study!! I have been able to maintain a 3.7GPA and hope I don't fail myself. OR THE TEAS!!!!

Looking forward to spending my next few years becoming the nurse that makes a difference. I am looking forward to the support and encouragment I know exists on this board. Good luck everyone!!!

Hi everyone. My name is Crystal and I am 27 from Michigan. I have two children, daughter 8 and son 4 and I am applying to my schools RN program Monday morning the 11th of Janurary, 2010! I should hear back by May 1st and can not wait to start!!!

I am glad to meet everyone and since I have been a lerker for almost a year, I can tell you that I think the board is wonderful and I look forward to getting help and hopefully helping others here on the board!

Crystal - soon to be Student Nurse!:nurse:

My name is Jess. I'm 22, and i'm in my second semester in my nursing program. When i graduate i'll have my ASN, but plan to go back for my BSN while i'm working.. well that's the plan at least!

My name is Sara and I'm 32 years old. I am married and I have two children, ages 6 and 8. I am beginning work on my ADN in August. I already have all the pre-reqs and non-nursing courses so hopefully, I will be able to focus only on the nursing courses themselves. I just finished my CNA and will be seeking a CNA position for while I am in nursing school, as we can't afford for me to not work.

I have a BS in elementary education but I am excited (and nervous!) to be returning to school.

The university where I received my BS offers an online RN-BSN program so I hope to be able to get my BSN after my ADN.
