How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Hi I'm Steph, and this is my first post! I'm 24 and about to start a diploma to BSN program in Philadelphia PA next week! I just finished taking 30 credits of prerequisites at community college, and I maintained a 4.0 gpa. I'm ready for the challenge of nursing school, and I can't wait to start! I just got married 3 months ago in June, and I'm a little worried about the balancing act that is about to begin. Anyone have any advice? I don't have any kids yet (and hopefully not until i'm finished school!).
Hi. Nice to meet you. I want to wish you the very best this semester!
I am not sure how to post a new introduction so I will do it here.
I have one adult child who I am very close to. I lost my husband and best friend in May, 2007 following a Mar, 2007 diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I was able to take care of him at home per his wishes until 4 days before he passed.
I have been a full time nursing assistant for 20 years, first in long term care and then I transferred to the hospital side in April, 06. I am on an educational leave of absence this first semester with a 13 credit load.
I am a new ADN student in my first week of the first semester of a 5 semester program. I am feeling overwhelmed right now.

Hi HDM,
I'm sorry for your loss. I know it's a lot to handle right now, but try to take it easy and don't forget to take care of yourself. 13 credits is a lot in conjunction with nursing classes, are there any that you can drop? The first semester is the hardest, believe me, it does get somewhat easier. Goodluck to you and remember, we're all here to support each other. You're not alone.

Hi. Thank you so much for your reply! You are right in that 13 credits is a lot. 4 credits is anatomy and physiology which I have to take. 1 credit is nursing math which is required first semester and the next 8 are fundamentals of nursing, part of which is skills. So theres nothing I can drop this semester. The next 4 semesters will be between 7 and 9 semesters exept for summer which will be just 3 or 4 for microbiology.
Since I am on an educational leave this semester it should go smoother, however I haven't read the material or really studied much from last week so I better get busy here.
yes we are all here 4all and you are not alone im sorry too for your lost but its from god and when god love someone he just examine him or her best wishes from me to you in your first semester i hope you will do well:)
hi. you are right in that my husbands passing was directly from god and he took him home. by faith i have no doubts about that. i'm so glad we are all here for each other.

Hi!!
Wow! I haven't read all the posts (it would prolly take me a few million hours to read 5 years' worth!) most people must have graduated by now!!
My name is Anne-Marie, I am from Australia, and it seems we do things differently over here! I am married with three girls 18month old, 4 and 8.
I am at Uni doing B.Nursing (as that is the only way to get your qualification) Three years (2 semesters per year), and we only get to have patient contact for a certain period of time. THis is my first year and I have done semester one and semester 2 will be my first prac/field placement and I am sooo excited but real nervous!!
So, I will be around here and look forward to reading all about your journies!!

Hey All,
I'm starting my second year in an ADN program and I can't wait to graduate. I work part time as a Nurse Tech at a local hospital and I'm married with 3 kids. Have I mentioned that I can't wait to graduate?
