How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

Hi - I'm new here too!

Just started in on my first lecture courses at the new university. I already have a B.A. but I fell in love with helping expectant moms with their deliveries. So I started out as a volunteer birth doula and I loooooved it. I want to get my B.S.N. and then eventually work on getting my Masters in Nursing so that I can be a midwife. I can't wait!

Probably gonna need a lot of advice from all of you experienced people. Hope ya'll don't mind. :)

Never saw this before lol. My name is Larry and I am from Pennsylvania. I am 23 years old and I graduated in June 2007. I am taking boards on September 27, 2007.

I am single and nursing is my first career (not counting my store clerk time period from age 17-22). I have my ADN right now, but I am going to get my BSN with a minor in Biochemistry. My biggest goal is to become a Nurse Anesthetist, and eventually a DNp.

Hi, I'm still in the pre req stage, start anatomy and physiology tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous about it. :S My goal is to take pre reqs for both an ADN and a BSN, apply for both programs and go wherever I'm accepted.

I'm going back to school after an almost 18 year break, because it took me a while to decide this is really what I want to do. I see pretty much everyone here is already in a program of some kind, I am hoping that I can get into one, too.

Nice to meet everyone. :)

Hi all! I'm Theresa. I am a single mother of a 3 1/2 year old. I am currently in semester 3 of a 4 semester ADN program. Nive to be surrounded by those who can relate to what I'm going through. Peace to you all.

HI,

I just started a 7-semester RN program 2 weeks ago at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago. I am 43 year old and LOVING being back in school full-time. I quit my full time job of 17 years and have no regrets whatsoever! My first exams are this week and I'm kind of freakin' ( especially over Patho), but i'm not alone; everyone in my class is! I hope to come onto this site occasionaly to find out what other students are experiencing and to find some support and share experiences.

My name is Jessica. I am the mother of 2 beautiful girls who are4 and 2 months old. I just received my RN license yesterday and I am going to begin my BSN program in January.Very excited about my career and continuing education. My goal is to be a nurse practitioner by age 30!

Hi! I just started Nursing Fundamentals this week for my RN, it is definitely >>> week! My whole class feels so overwhelmed. Sunday, Monday, and tonight we have spent over 8 hours each night studying and doing assignments. This does not include the 5 hours of class and lecture time. When do we sleep? Is it going to be this way until we graduate, or is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Clinicals start next week, we have to meet our patients the night before, do assessments, and be back at the hospital at 6:30am. With the homework and studying we are doing now we only get 4-5 hours a night sleep. And familes are just pushed to the side. Will it get easier as we get used to the huge change? Also there is so much information and the theories and concepts are so vague, we are having a hard time studying. Can anyone offer any advice please!!!
