How is there a shortage?
I know that there is no Nursing Shortage in Chicago.I am an E.R nurse and am planning on moving to Eastern N. Carolina next year. I have been perusing the market and am confident i can get a job there.

questions about nursing
If you know where you want to go, then go for it. I got a position in an inner city ED right out of school and have gotten a lot of experience without going the med/surg route. Good Luck!!

Rush- GEM Program
Hi, The essay I wrote was from the heart and wasn't technical by any means. I did not have an interview for admission, but I do know that some of my fellow classmates did. I'm not sure why some did and some didn't. Our class was very diverse; all ages, genders and orientation. I do know that they look at the whole person and not just grades like some schools (UIC). Good Luck!!

Rush- GEM Program
Tiffany, I am in he last BSN class at Rush and will graduate in June. My experience has been that if you need help, there is always someone available to help tutor. We were assigned mentors at the beginning of the program and mine was great about keeping in touch and making herself available. The instructors do have an open door policy and are very receptive to giving advice. They really want you to succeed but you have to take the lead and ask for help if you need it. Someone posted that there is a communication problem and I have found that to be true, but I attributed that to the fact that we are the last BSN program at Rush and they were too preoccupied with the new GEM program. Good luck to you...Rush really is a good and respected program.

Age you will/were graduated?
I'll graduate in June '09 and will be 45. Age is a state of mind...I'm going to be 45 anyway and I'd rather be there as a nurse than not!!

Wait listed for Nursing school--how should I take this?
Have faith...I was wait listed twice for Northern Illinois University and finally received notification that I was in for Spring of 2008. However, I got accepted to RUSH University Medical Center for Fall 2007 right away. In the interim, I'd apply to all of the programs you can.

Rush non-accelerated BSN
Hi, I just got my acceptance letter for RUSH non-accelerated program about 3 weeks ago. I took my TEAS on March 30th and my score was 77. I scored really high in the english and comp. portions and O.K. in the science and math. My GPA is 3.65. I'm not sure exactly what they look at to determine acceptance, but I'm just glad to get in. Good luck to you. Let me know if you get in.
