  1. Recently I renewed my BLS. (most of the attendees were either nurses or cnas as well as a few other hospital employees). The instructor asked what the difference was between a code and a rapid response. An x-ray tech piped up and said "A code is for patients and a rapid is for visitors."... There were a few chuckles throughout the room....
  2. I don't know if you're going to get hired without being a cna already.... Most of the hospitals on the west side aren't afraid to train new CNAs but they won't certify you. ...

Lol... uh. maybe i should have typed slower and checked my spelling.... There. that's better...
  5. 4th of July is her!? For trauma, it's nearly the worst holliday of the year! It's hot, there are explosives, alcohol, and usually boats or Atvs involved... Lets hear the stories!!!!
  6. We talked about it in class but never really studied it. When we did clinicals we used lifts but weren't allowed to use them alone. I definitely think your instructor should have taught you. You should be able to just retake the clinical skills part of your test.... good luck....
  7. I don't know for sure where to post this but someone please help me out... I'm in CNA school and am looking for a job. I want to work in the ER but I'm curious how much new techs will make. I know it will vary from place to place but please give me some ideas which units would be the best paying units and also how much can I make in the ER?> thanks!!!
  8. wow there are some really good ones. I'm not an RN but I volunteered in Memorial Hermann Hospital TMC in Houston in the ED. Here area few I learned there. Never listen to your friends when they tell you to sit on dry ice because of back pain, and for sure don't put the dry ice inside your pants!!!! Never drink a case of beer and then go cut firewood with a ban saw. (I value my hand more than that) love these... wanna hear more.....

thanks alot!!! That's what I wanna hear :)... I know I want ED so why not go for it, especially if I can work as a tech in the ED while I'm in school it'll give me a little experience.... Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the input. I am very new to this site and didn't expect to have this kind of feedback... I might be asking more questions before I'm through.... lol. Thanks again tho. Any advice is welcomed.... T.K.
  11. I am a new nursing student just starting my pre-reps. I am looking for a job as a tech in an ER. I volunteered in a trauma center for about 6 months and got lots of experience as far as being in the environment and getting used to the way a ER runs. However, as a new nurse, will it be overwhelming to start out in the ER? My passion is ER, especially trauma. Can some experienced nurses give me some advice??? Thanks.
