How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

Hi I am Lisa, 38 mother of two, and starting the LPN program Aug 2007;)

Hi...I am a 38y/o mother of 2 teenage daughters & married. I am in my 3rd semester of pre-req's and going for my Assoc. degree in nursing. I'm wondering if it's possible to continue working a full-time day job and still be able to take the clinical classes, or is it better to go to school full-time. I'm trying to figure out my 3 year plan. Thanks:nurse:

Hey Leesha,

First of all congratulations on taking the steps towards success. I am starting in a nursing program on Aug. 20th, and I hear that it is very demanding. Clinical hours can be at different times depending on what you are studying that semester. For instance, when you start learning about Maternal and Child Nursing you may have night clinicals to increase your chances of seeing the delivery of a child. My first semester clinicals are going to be from 6:30 to 3:30, so it will vary. However, there have been many, many posts where people have worked full-time while in nursing school, and have done fine. My advice would be to just try it and see how you handle it, or work part-time. Either way we have to still take care of our families, so do what you have to do just never ever get behind.

Hello everyone;

I'm fairly young (19) and just starting my junior year in a BSN program in Texas. I start clinicals in a couple weeks, so wish me luck!

Hello all. My name is Adrienne, I'm 20 years old and a pre-nursing student at Cal State San Marcos. I was at a community college in L.A. for three years because it was so crowded it was impossible to get an Anatomy class before my second year. Anyway, I finally applied only to get my application thrown out due to the Chemistry requirements being different between L.A. and everywhere else (UGH). So, here I am in HOPEFULLY my last year as a pre-nursing student, finishing up chemistry and taking soc./anthro./and bio. classes designed to be taken when you're in the program to lighten the load once I get there. Almost there....wish me luck! Glad to be a part of this community.

Hi everyone!

My name is Natasha, I'm 20 years old and going to be starting my first year of nursing school in less than a month! Woohoo! Like many of you I've been obsessing most of the summer about anything and everything to do with nursing....staying up at all hours browsing through nursing websites, studying anatomy and physiology, practicing drug math (math is my weak spot :o), watching Grey's Anatomy....:chuckle

I'm sure this forum will be a great help during my time in nursing school and beyond. It's so nice to see other people really are going through the same excitement and anxiety as I am, and I love reading about everyone's opinions and experiences. I hope to share in many interesting discussions with all of you soon!

Also, good luck to all nursing students beginning or continuing nursing school this fall!

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi everyone, my name is Caroline and I go to wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, NC. I am in my 4th semester of the ADN program and will be finishing up in December 2008. :roll I wish everyone the best of luck with nursing school!

Hello! I'm Tiffany 27, mother of 3 bad little ones. I just found out a week ago Thursday I was accepted into an LPN program I wasn't expecting to hear from until September. They had someone drop at the at the last minute and I was next on the list. Most of the LPN programs in this area have a long waiting list. I was really happy at first because I was accepted and especially since I don't have to wait until January to start. So I started that next day after the Director called. I was a little nervous because everyone else had already been there 4 days. Labs are my number one fear because we are practicing on each other, its different when you are working with a client. In a couple of weeks we are giving each other bed baths.....Buck naked and everything....this seems strange to me because everyone I that I have talked to that went to a different school has said they didn't have to do this....they just did the motions "Annie" or eachother. Did anyone here attend a school that made them do this?

Hi everyone,

Went to orientation for my ADN clinicals. I am more scared then ever. Good Luck to us all.

Would love to stay and chat but need to get busy on studying, reading, refreshing etc...before Mon.
