WCCCD 2nd semester nursing students
MMMM.. Think like a nurse. Well as a nurse you are obligated to know your drugs and labs. You know what the 5th rule of med administration is. Patient's right to know so how will they know if you don't. Teaching always important. KNOW YOUR NIC'S AND NOC'S. Important for test questions. Yeah reading the book and understanding the material is fine, but if you have a pt with x,y,and z going on they want to know what you would do and what's most important to do first. They don't tell you this but the careplan is not just for writing careplans. It's your guide to delivering care to the pt after you've made your assessment. Next, practice your procedures. It doesn't matter if you had it in MSI. You still may have a pt who needs it done in MS2,3,4, or OB you never know. Your study group must be focused and you must have one. Try to stay together during clinicals. It's good for moral support as well. Be confident!!!! I don't care if you don't know, you'd better act like you do. They can smell fear. Good Luck Guys, BTW I am at WCCCD as well. I just finished psych and going to MS3

Nursing hat with ruffles required?
Do male nurses have to wear a cap also? This is a new millenium, they need to stop living in the '50's. While I haven't graduated yet and still earning my right to wear a cap, I don't think you should have to wear one to signify you're a nurse. I don't have a problem with whites, but if you ask me to put on a white dress with stockings and a nursing cap we're going to have problems. To be totally honest it sounds like some male fantasy (sorry guys). Steph:nono:

My Feet Hurt
A little homeopathic remedy: I used to freeze coke cans and roll them under my feet (with socks on). The coolness felt awesome under my feet and I was getting a free foot massage. I've also seen nurses wear a special type of shoes that have springs in the heels. They swear by them. Unfortunately they are super- expensive.

psych soap charting
Hi Everyone, I need help. In our psych rotation we are SOAP charting. I am used to narrative charting. I am having the worst time in the world trying to formulate the assessment. I've read my text, careplan books, etc and its still not helping. I can't keep my personal feelings out of the assessment. Have I mentioned that psych patients terrify me? Any input, advice or info would be helpful. lotus31
