Nursing Students General Students

Published

How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

I'm a 31 yr old mother of 5 young children ages 9,8,5,4, & 2. 3 girls and 2 boys in that order. I've been married for 11 yrs to a very supportive DH however I reserve the right to vent about him often. I'm from Iowa and and a Nursing II student in the ADN-RN program at our local college.

I've handled the stress of having a family and struggling through nursing school great so far. This semester though I think I'm going to need a little more help (medication wise). I'm not afraid to say this as I know that I have quite a load on me right now and it's going to get worse before it gets better. I'm also taking my last supporting class A&P II this semester so next semester I can focus solely on my Nursing classes.

I credit my finally figuring out that I want to be a nurse when I grow up to my kids. If I had not had them, I still would not have realized how much I care for the well being of others. I've always been a caring person, but becoming a mother has changed me in a way that is unexplainable - definitely a positive change. Of course if I had had my way, I'd be rich and a stay at home mom so I'd never have to leave my babes to go to school however the experiences that I've had thus far and my determination to succeed has been a wonderful role model for my kids.

At any rate, that is my introduction of myself and I look forward to continuing in the nursing profession. Also VERY VERY happy I found this site to find other struggling students like me! :yelclap:

I am a nursing/religious studies-philosophy major and have interests in hospice/forensic/psych/burn nursing. If anyone has the same interests ket me know! I feel alienated being the only one in my class to not want to work in L&D or Peds!!!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum. I am a nursing student at CCRI in Rhode Island and started my first clinical this month. I am looking for useful tools such as videos, nclex books, websites ect... to better prepare me for geriatric clinicals. Please let me know if anyone has specifics on what material is best.

Thanks

Hi, I'm Sara. I am 22 and graduating in December. I will be getting my associates as an RN. I don't really know what I want to do yet. I loved my oncology rotation as well as my labor and delivery. I am probably going to do a float pool for a year and see where that takes me. I'm really nervous for the boards!

Hi, I'm Amy from NC. I am starting my nursing degree in January so I should be finished in August of 2008. I've wanted to go into nursing since I was really young, so I'm very excited to get started. I've read over some of the other threads, and this website looks like it will be very helpful as I start school again! :wink2:
