How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Greetings to all. My name is Kim. I am a 42-year-old wife and mother of two wonderful children, ages 9 and 6. I have been in an RN diploma program since August of 2003 and will be graduating in 20 days!!!
It has been a long, hard road but very rewarding too. I have one more class to take at the university and will earned my associates degree, which I have been working on concurrently while attending nursing school. I start my first nursing job on June 15th in Med/Surg/Tele at a small local hospital and I am very excited....and scared. Best wishes to everyone!

Hi This is my first post! Seems kind of confusing but I am sure I will get used to it!
I am 28 years old from Ventura, CA. I will begin the ADN program in Fall 2005. I am single with no children. I work Full-Time right now but will be leaving so that I can focus 100% on school. I'll be poor, too....but it will be worth it in the end!

Hi everyone! I have been reading everything here and I am very interested in all you have to say! I just got "the letter" the other day and am vey excited about starting the RN program! Yes, I am very scared--VERY SCARED--about the the intensity of the program, but I know it's what I want to do. I spent 2 semesters in a radiology program and realized I needed to be more,as in a one-on- one with patients type of situation and I dropped out. It's definitly apples and oranges, radiology and nursing-- I want to work with people--not machines. And I realized I want to see the patient through, not just see them in pain and leave them in pain. Radiology is very beneficial to the patient but you have to be more into the technical aspect of medicne than the patient. I respect that as part of the health care network, but it wasn't for me and I dropped out with A's and B's. I want to be there all the way for sick people and their families. I want to see them either get well or die with dignity. I want to be someone who gives comfort and strength to those who are faced with an ill or dying relative. So, that is why I am here, and I am ready in the Fall of 2005 to be here asking questions and someday even answering them!
Looking forward to meetting you all--

Hi Everyone!
My name is Lisa and I am 40 yrs old, married twice with a son that is 24 years old. Oh, my husband has just started the coursework for the nursing program but I dunno if he is gonna make it, I really hope he does since I can help him with all his coursework.
I am starting my RN program in August at a nursing school, and this summer I finish ALL my coursework for my AAS degree, that has taken me 3 years 3/4 time at our community college.
It will be nice to just be able to concentrate on nursing school since I have the other out of the way, just took a year of waiting to get into nursing school vs. the fall to continue at the community colleges nursing program that I would have had to wait until the fall of 2006.
:balloons:
Good luck to all!
